I live in NC and I live in a 2 day zone too. How long before I see it probably??
Does anyone have a map/list of these zones?
Google it @halfdust . I saw a map for first class and one for standard. Georgetown mails first class I believe. it’s cheaper than standard mail.
It’s called the “Domestic Zone Chart” if you search it up @halfdust
@masquerade98 Now that the letter have been mailed when can international students expect to receive an email from the admission office?
“The Zone is 1. This is not a Local Zone. The destination ZIP Code is within the same NDC as the origin ZIP Code.” anyone know what this means?? I’m in Maryland, am I getting it tomorrow?
I would think so, since Zone 1 is within a 50 mile radius, but not sure. Priority Mail Delivery Map gives you the estimated time if it were shipped priority mail (1, 2 or 3 days, though Georgetown might be first class, not priority). @canigetahoyaa
Hi. I live in NY. How long do y’all think it’ll take for decisions to reach me? Thanks in advance!
Try this link. Enter in “200” as the 3-digit zip for DC. Make sure you have “First Class Mail” selected. Then hit: “show map.” Those in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, NYC, Virginia, and northern NC will get mail in 2 days, the rest of the continental US is 3 days, and Alaska and Hawaii (mostly) are 4 days. https://ribbs.usps.gov/modernservicestandards/ssmaps/find_map.cfm
I kinda buy into the $.5 postage = Rejection / $.71 = Acceptance theory, but a single piece of paper only weighs .16 Oz. To add an entire ounce, they would have to add a lot of extra paper or be close to incurring the fee anyway.
One thing we could do to try and get a sense of the weight difference is significant is to find out the ratio of candidates incurring the extra fee - If it is close to the acceptance rate, we would have some reason to believe the difference in weight is due to the extra enrollment information included in an acceptance letter.
I’m kind of content to just wait for the mail to come tho.
when you say three days, do u mean counting today? like friday, saturday, monday (since no mail on sunday). Or saturday, monday tuesday?
The problem is that Saturday is mixed in like it was last December for EA applicants. Here in Atlanta, early action letters were mailed Wednesday, Dec 13 and being in a suburb, we were in a two day zone but got it third day on Saturday, Dec 16th. Now with Saturday in the mix again, I would be shocked if the letter came Monday. I think Tuesday, March 27th in the afternoon will be the delivery here but with USPS informed delivery, I think we may know the answer by seeing the postage on Tuesday morning :-). Good luck to all. I imagine it is possible that some near D.C. may get the letter today, but most will on Monday, some on Tuesday.
@pinecollo531, I am not counting Sunday but some may have delivery on Sunday. Also, rural areas in some states could take four or five days.
We’re in Arlington, just outside of DC. Nothing on Informed Delivery this morning.
10.2 miles (no one is measuring) from Gtown in MD, no Hoya mail in ID this morning
I am thinking PA will come on Tuesday then, instead of Monday, since 1 day people are going to be 2 days.
I don’t think anyone is one-day, actually, because that would require Georgetown to be using priority mail, which is more expensive (though would be nicer for applicants). @Winky1 I really think the link that @chimonigans posted is right. One-day shipping is for priority mail only; first-class mail is two to four day shipping, so it would make sense that nobody sees anything on Informed Delivery yet, despite how close they are to Georgetown. As said above, two-day shipping for places like NJ, NYC, PA, MD, VA, etc. makes a lot of sense given anecdotes for EA. If I had to bet, I’d say that the places in orange on that map will be Monday, yellow Tuesday, and blue Wednesday.
@Winky1 I think you are right about PA coming on Tuesday. My daughter is a deferral from EA so is awaiting her decision from Georgetown. She’s getting her wisdom teeth out on Tuesday so it will be insult on top of literal injury to get a rejection on Tuesday. This following an upsetting waitlist from Lehigh will be a tough pill to swallow.
Sorry for your bad news @adlgel . My girl was waitlisted from Case after an EA deferral. Wishing both our D’s a grand acceptance on Monday /Tuesday
@Winky1 I’m hoping for a miracle from Georgetown.
