I understand totally. We have demonstrated need as well. I am excited about all of my D’s schools, so I am very curious to see where she will end up. I could be genuinely happy for her at any of her schools. I have to say there are many things that I like about Georgetown for her (except for the mice and rats). Ewww. She applied to NHS as a Human Science major.
@SgtFriar2015 Hoping Sgt’s kiddo gets to wear the GTown sweatshirt come April, or if not he wears one from a school he loves. Wishing that for all our kids. My two both turned down GTown, but did not get their first choices, Columbia and Amherst. but did end up very happily at Berkeley Haas and Pomona. No parents want to see a broken heart or a crushed dream, but the good news is that opportunities lie in wait for all good students. Good Luck students and their parents.
Now I am getting really excited to find out, @preppedparent !
how many mice/rats does georgetown have exactly???
I got in EA and it’s my top choice but …

Hi @ashley676 . I am not a happy camper about what I know. My D and I get The Hoya online. It comes weekly. Recently, I have posted the 2 articles from The Hoya onto the thread above. Others who have attended have also posted their experiences. While many down play the situation, I am really disgusted. I am certain Georgetown is not the only college in an urban environment that has to deal with this issue - it’s everywhere. However, I have never come across information so readily available about it anywhere else for any other school. And honestly, I went to school in a city. I can hang in an urban environment, and this just doesn’t sit well with me.
If my D is accepted, we’ll just have to do our best with the info. we have.
@preppedparent - thank you so much and yes, my DS is still waiting for the “final” answer from GTown and boy, if it’s even remotely a “yes”…you can be assured he’ll be wearing that Hoya t-shirt. He’s fortunate to have some great options, substantial merit awards and law scholar programs at other schools, but he’s spent 2 summers at GTown studying law, political science, and just loves it. Still…it’s up to a bunch of folks who have plenty of great young men/women to chose from. Either way, he’ll be fine but come on GTown…give us some good news!
All’s quiet. Drumming up some additional interest. Hoya, Hoya, Hoya!
@Winky1 I did a summer program there and the dorms weren’t too terrible, but the bathrooms were pretty gross. GU still remains my sister’s and my top choice. We both got deferred early, so fingers crossed!
Hi, just wondering what all you think about when decisions will be mailed. Spring break starts Wednesday, March 28th. Easter is Sunday, April 1, and break is over April 3rd. When would they mail the decisions? Before break starts? After break? I think that would be too late. Offices are closed during break, correct? Any chance because of the timing this year that decisions come before April 1st? Would love to hear your thoughts.
There’s something unusual in my son’s portal. He submitted 3 recommendations. One is showing as received, but the other 2 are not. He checked with his GC. She submitted all of them at the same time. I called the admissions office and they told me they were sure if he submitted them they had received them but wouldn’t check his file. His GC then called also and they said the same thing. Anyone else experience this?
@worldfairs66 A similar thing happened to me. Portal showed GC hadn’t sent in her materials yet, but she called and they said they received them there’s just something wrong with the portal.
@worldfairs66 I’m fairly certain the portal is independent of the admissions office so its likely not reflecting the fact that they’ve received it. The admissions office will email/call if they’re missing documents.
Do you get a portal if you applied RD? Just curious
FWIW, I was on CSS for a different school and noted that Georgetown said its FA offers will be available for students ~3/30. For reference, the RD ivies said 4/2 (about five days after results), Hopkins said 3/16 (decision day), and Yale SCEA said 12/15 (one day after results). We should have our decisions by 3/30 at the latest, and perhaps a few days before.
Hi! I applied regular decision to the business school at Georgetown. However, I noticed recently on the website that it says students are highly recommended to have taken AP Computer Science. I am worried now because I did not take this class, but I completed AP Calculus as a junior and am taking AP Statistics this year. Will not having taken Computer Science hurt my chances of getting accepted?
Did you take any computer classes at all in high school? (For example, my school has a one-semester HTML/Web Design course requirement.) It doesn’t say AP. @yellowgreenred
@writergirl0316 No my school only offered AP comp sci and I did not have room for it in my schedule.
From the link I see, it just says “recommended,” not “highly recommended,” and refers to computer experience in general. Honestly, I think it would’ve hurt you worse if you didn’t take AP Calculus and took Comp Sci instead. @yellowgreenred
Since Georgetown asks for all test scores, will they only look at my highest? I sent all but I am concerned that I scored significantly lower on an ACT that I took after getting my highest score. Will this count against me if my highest ACT is within the range for Georgetown?
Please chance child
