@jdecker9 My mid-year Report was also missing. My counselor confirmed that she sent mine out before the deadline, and I also thought the portal just never got updated. GT called my counselor a few days ago asking for my grades, so my counselor told them my grades over the phone. My checklist is updated now with the mid-year checked off.
If I were you, I’d call them and ask just to be safe since it’s still labeled as missing.
Has your counselor told you that GT reached out to her/him? That’s what they did for me.
@hg0987 Georgetown sent my son an email (which was cc’d to his guidance counselor) on March 8 saying that he has until March 15 to complete the second part of the application, with the only remaining tasks of submitting a request to his high school guidance counselor to send over mid-year report and recommendation. My son completed the second part of the application last week and submitted to the requests for the needed documents to his high school guidance counselor, who, as I mentioned, was cc’d on the email. I’m not sure if the mid-year report and recommendation have been submitted by the guidance counselor, though they just returned from spring break this morning, so who knows.
On a lighter note, I will add that Georgetown has never been one of my son’s top choices and only applied because we took an impromptu tour of the campus and neighborhood this past summer and because of the school’s name recognition. If admissions withdrawals his application or ultimately rejects him, I don’t think he will lose any sleep over it.
@hg0987 They sent the missing materials notifications to both me and my counselor, but I spoke with him and he said that everything was sent, and everything on Georgetown’s portal indicated that I shouldn’t worry about missing checklist items in my case, so I’m pretty sure I’m fine, I’m just curious.
Is everyone pretty sure that the letters will go out on Thursday of this week (3/21)? If so, if you have USPS informed delivery, when would that show up? Friday?
Hey - on my application it shows that I have a random New York high school on my Second High School education slot. My main and only high school (in Florida) is shown in the primary slot as should be, and I do not recall ever adding a second high school, but I’m still curious: has this happened to anyone else?
Son reports that he got an email confirmation from Georgetown admissions telling him that his mid-year report was received today. I’m guessing that effort was pointless and at this point GT admissions has already decided on accepted applications, and more than likely my son will be left off that list.
@hg0987 Well, shouldn’t the mid-year reports have been sent to admissions weeks ago? Besides, I’ve always been under the suspicion the email my son received from admissions on March 8 asking him to complete the second part of the application was sent to all applicants who only finished Part I, not to mention he never followed up with the alumni interview request. It’s okay though.
My daughter wants to major in linguistics & minor in French. She applied to GU’s Faculty of Languages & Linguistics. She applied early decision & was deferred & is now waiting regular decision. She already has been accepted to the College of William & Mary. She’s now waiting on GU & UVa (these 3 schools are her top choices).
In your opinion, how important is it to attend GU as a linguistics major (if she’s lucky enough to be accepted) versus schools like William & Mary/UVa where linguistics isn’t a separate department but they offer a major? Would obtaining an undergraduate degree from one of these 2 schools (& doing well) still enable her to be in a good position to apply for a master’s program in linguistics at a top-ranked school?
Thanks for any insight. We’ve had a challenging time to find useful information on linguistics since it’s not a super-popular major.
I never received any notifications from Georgetown regarding my mid-year report being missing. I kept getting regular automated emails from them and my required interview was scheduled. (I have now sent the report to them.)
@Nonomom a few pages back 3/22 was suggested as the projected mailing date. I didn’t see what that is based on, I’m guessing previous Gtown mailing dates.
