Georgetown Class of 2017 EA/RD Discussion Thread

@Gschieder- Hopefully that’s right!

@zentyme Thanks for your anecdote! At least there is some hope if we get deferred! I would just be happy to get in any way I can, EA or RD. Preferably EA…fewer months of torture awaiting a decision.

Yeah let’s not post any “daughter/son” stories… I wonder if I will get snail mail or email

Consensus is all Georgetown decisions come via snail mail. At least for this year.

@carbs I think chilly is international! They get emails.

did everyone get the email about getting decisions by the 15th? because i didn’t.

It was an email that was like “Greetings from Georgetown University!” It was sort of like a newsletter and at the top it said to expect decisions for EA by December 15.

Check your spam. Sometimes Georgetown email goes into ds’s spam folder.

That was it! Found it, thanks!

release results already! haha. :(

Same was true at the 2011 convocation where it was announced that around 49% of the class was ranked 1, 2 or 3 in their graduating HS class. Our son was also a valedictorian with a 4.45 GPA and a 33 ACT. He was accepted RD into the College and loves being at Georgetown. FlaPops - I concur on the legacy comments based on families we’ve met over the past year and a half.

Good luck to everyone. I hope your waits are short and your results positive. :)

I didn’t get that email… When was it sent?

@zentyme-thanks for posting! Nice to know that some people get in on regular decision after deferral!

I want to encourage all those who are awaiting a decision that are not ranked in the top 3 of their class. My son was in the top 15% of his class (2012), with a ACT of 32 and 1430 on the SAT. Good, but not like most Georgetown applicants, yet he was accepted early in the SFS and is LOVING it at Georgetown. He is not only enjoying it, but thriving both socially and academically (no final grades yet, but he’s feeling good :)) So, good luck to all, I know it’s hard to wait.

thanks laserp-that really helps. I was getting discouraged…

Thank you, laser. Last night was the first time I felt discouraged about ds’s chances. He’s not a legacy and not at the top of his class, but he’s got great test scores, great ECs and Georgetown would be lucky to have him.

My friend already got her results (accepted)! I have no idea how though. She’s an international student just like me. I’m guessing she or her counselor has direct connections to Georgetown Admissions?

Anyways I’d be super happy for her if it wasn’t for this waiting game that’s slowly eating me up… :<

Any other int. students religiously refreshing their e-mail inboxes like me?!

@skyfull Can you have your friend post to the results thread?

Youdon’tsay - regarding the posts from the two “dads” about the make up of the freshman classes in which their kids were a part of, when you read the posts closely, roughly 50% of those classes were NOT #1,2 or 3 in their H.S. class. You need to really disregard those posts because they really are irrelevant to whether your child is accepted or not. I read them for sheer entertainment just as the posts asking to be “chanced.” Good luck to your and your child who I am sure will do well where ever they attend college.

It’s all good, soccerdad. The light of day has restored perspective. ;)
