Georgetown Class of 2017 EA/RD Discussion Thread

Nothing in California either. Frustrating that I have to wait until tomorrow…but on a brighter side one of my best friends was accepted to Harvard

So the graphic their paper posted about around 1050 people expected to be admitted EA was off by 120+?

Nothing in OH. I’m getting really worried - just got deferred from Boston College EA. I thought that BC was a sure thing, no questions asked, but after that, my confidence is shattered and I have no hope for an acceptance letter from Georgetown. I just retook the ACT so hopefully a boosted score will give me a better chance in regular decision. No matter what the letter says though, this wait is killing me.

@CSIHSIS didn’t you say “6736 apps, 1010 accepted”? That’s right around 15%. Maybe 13% was for one of the schools?

i feel for yuh. a bunch of my friends who I thought were shoo-ins at VT got deferred. they were pretty upset.

can people who got in post stats? I’m really getting nervous…

^me too…

i don’t even get home till 10 tomorrow so it’s going to be an even longer wait. waaaaaaah. georgetown is one of my top choices. my interviewer said he gave me a 10/10 though. hope they really consider the interviews

this is so nerve-racking. come on people who got accepted. think of yourself yesterday and let us west coasters know what to expect. hoya saxa just threw me for a toss.

yeah this is very demoralizing. i dont want to open the letter tomorrow

To add insult to injury, there was a dead gnat smeared across the back of the envelope containing my deferral letter. Way to rub it in, mailman.

I bet he held it up to the light, read what it said, chuckled maniacly, found a bug on his windshield, and defamed my decision. What sacrilege.

Good humor in the face of setback. The sign of solid character, bravery, and perseverance.

Or, as Judge Smails put it (in Caddyshack):

“It’s easy to grin when your ship comes in, and you have the stock market beat.
But the man worthwhile is the man who can smile when his shorts are too tight in the seat.”

we are all actually going hysterical.

…

Comments about getting deferred being okay make me want to go die before I even find out.

as much as people want to say that college decisions aren’t a big deal and do not reflect a person’s personality and worth, it is a big deal. we have worked four years or more dedicating ourselves to school, extracurriculars and service. we have made sacrifices to put our resumes over our personal lives. in the end, this is what we have worked for. i think recognizing this and not pretending like it’s not important is needed so we don’t bottle up our feelings inside about a deferral or rejection.

it’s so hard to wait two days when you know what is coming but try to keep your chin up.

anyone who got accepted already-

was the letter fat?

Guys I’m really nervous. I got deferred from BC on Monday and nobody has been accepted to Georgetown for over 6 years at my high school. My stats and grades are OK but not above average. I have had my heart set on Georgetown for YEARS.

ACT: 30
GPA: 4.85 weighted, 3.85 unweighted

-4th Place in region for Health Care Administration for my Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club
-I went to the Georgetown University Medical Institute summer before junior year
-Treasurer of FBLA
-Accepted to the United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar last summer
-Co-president of Jared’s Box
-Varsity Soccer Captain
-Plenty of community service/volunteer/job hours
-Interviewer was really young and said she would definitely recommend me (I don’t know if she really meant this or just said it to be nice)

What do you guys think?

No letter received in northern New York today…hopeful for tomorrow!

Good Luck Everyone!

@kitkat, all any of us can really say is that your ecs are competitive and the act is a tiny bit low but not dealbreaker low. We’ll all know soon enough!
