Did you request an early review yet? @Gonzalo0927
No, I don’t really have a reason to other than to save my sanity. I’ll just be patient
Anyone think they’ll release more decisions today?
Yeah I was horrible in Highschool also, a straight F student. That is because I spent my time volunteering ironically with food not bombs and hitch hiking or ride sharing to anti globalization protests covering free trade, the Iraq War, and environmental issues. My teen years were spent getting tear gassed and traveling to more then a few IMF, World Bank, and G20 meetings rather then even going to highschool. Under the post 91I Bush years I was a black clad Anarchist but I challenged my dogmatic perspective, joined the US Army Infantry, deployed to kunar, Afghanistan then ended up doing another contract with a Scout Sniper unit. My GPA now is a 3.67 with awsome recommendations and experience in the field I want to study, WSFS in Culture and Politics. I hope GU won’t base the decision on GPA alone because that would be there loss of a motivated student with real world experience and action. Just my thoughts if we get accepted or not Veterans are always the ones that are about action and doing things to bring progressive change to our country. I believe you have a good shot at getting in with both your experience, active lifestyle, and GPA. If you don’t get accepted that is really the loss of the school not you. Georgetown is not the deciding factor nor school in our lives just a jumping Stone to accomplish great things like how our military service was also. I will also frame the rejection letter if I get one haha.
Update, I’m gonna have to ask for an early review. GW’s housing deadline is May 12 and I have to submit my deposit in order to apply for housing. Kind of unfair, they extended the deadline to June 1st but if you want to live on campus you have to pay two weeks prior. Ugh,I really hope asking for an early review will hurt my chances of getting in.
WONT* hurt my chances
those who already heard back- can you give context of how it was presented to you-- like was it just an emailed letter or portal or whaaaa?
@Mycatsnameispups I can’t agree more about veteran’s being the most progressive in a community. Don’t get me wrong, I am completely aware that there are people out there who are very progressive and have never served in the military; however, from what I’ve seen from old buddies and dudes I’ve worked with who are now veterans, they always appear to be the ones out there to make some sort of change and take charge in whatever they’re involved with. Speaking of, a buddy who I served with when I was in my first infantry unit just got accepted to Harvard Medical School. If anything, that shows that veterans are extremely capable and pose a threat to others in the applicant pool.
@Gonzalo0927 Yeah, asking for an early read does seem sort of risky. I feel like the admissions team will think that the person asking for an early read is either: a) impatient, b) an elitist who believes they deserve an early read or both. As much as I’d like to know a decision earlier, I’ll just have to be patient until the end of May in case I have to put a deposit down for GWU.
@Robinyoursoul you’re gonna have to put down your deposit before that if you want to live in dorms, the deadline to apply for housing is May 12.
@Gonzalo0927 Fortunately I am a veteran over the age of 20 and can be exempt from the on-campus housing requirement for juniors. On a normal day of traffic, I can reach the GWU campus by vehicle in around 15 minutes!
5 o’clock is near…
Edit. 5:01: andddddd it’s gone.
@Robinyoursoul I live in Miami so unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of commuting to campus housing is a must for me. I don’t think there will be anymore decisions released until two weeks from now. I got some scoop on what’s happening in GU from a friend. The “college” was pressured into releasing early. We’ll see the rest of the program decisions later this month probably. Patience…
@Gonzalo0927 I applied to the college as a bio major; I can probably start accepting the idea of attending GWU this fall about now!
@Robinyoursoul that’s a safe bet. I might see you there lmao. SFS come on throughhhhh
@Gonzalo0927 I just looked at GWU’s Housing page, and you’re incorrect about the May 12th deadline, which is for first years. The transfer deadline is June 6th. Also @Robinyoursoul, I don’t think you should be dismayed at all! Your stats/story looked damn good. If you check out the Fall 2016 transfer form from last year, you’ll see that applicant from “the college” were being accepted well into June. I don’t think it’s over at all lol.
@Gonzalo0927 the college as a whole was pressured or individual schools/programs? P annoyed I didn’t hear back already Lol
@Robinyoursoul I know I’m late to this post, but I’m pretty much in the same boat as you as far as GPA and service wise. Five years in the Marines and now a 3.7. I have been trying not to get discouraged about it. I can tell you aren’t either. I think we might be good.
Maybe veterans are considered as their own pool, separately from applicants to each college within GU? I know Georgetown is very proud of their veteran-friendly status. I don’t personally know of any other vets applying, besides you two, so I can’t compare timelines.
Were you guys East or West?
@Collegestuff202 that’s what I was honestly thinking, and I had made a joke about in an earlier post how they could possibly look at veterans in their own pool; however, could we really be that fortunate? Hahaha
I was an East coast bubba
