I haven’t received an interview request… should I be concerned?
no! They said not everyone will get an alumni interview. It’s based on your location and availability.
Speaking of, Has anyone received an interview request yet?
(Not applying to Georgetown but still cheering on @“TexasRosé_” from the sidelines :D/ )
@“TexasRosé_”
I got an interview request before the March 1st application deadline. I met at a coffee shop with the alumnus on February 25th. She was an older woman, and she told me that the point of the interview was to find things about me that could/can not be expressed in the application. It felt more like a conversation than an interview - which is probably a good sign. When she was searching to remember the Georgetown locations overseas, I impressed her by telling her about them. So make sure to do your research!
One question I should have greatly anticipated, and I felt I should have answered better was: “Why Georgetown?” So prepare for this exact question.
Just out of curiosity, what program did everyone apply to? I applied to the College to double major in Econ. and Philosophy.
I just had my interview last night. It went 90 minutes, much longer than I expected! She asked “why Georgetown,” but besides that it was pretty conversational. Didn’t feel like an interview in the job interview sense. My advice would be to dress nicely and not stress out too much about it.
I had my interview last week and it was exactly as described. Nothing to be nervous about at all!
I had my interview two weeks ago and it was close to an hour. It went really well and think I killed it! Good luck to everyone
@AGoodFloridian Omg! You just made my day! Hi friend!! Thank you so much!
Ah, congrats to those who received an interview and that it went so well! I really hope there is an alumni in my area and I get the opportunity to interview. I really think it helps give your app a bit of an edge. I’m in the Dallas area and there was a Georgetown transfer info session lead by an alumni several months ago, so I was really hoping that was a good indicator for my chances at an interview! Heres hoping!
@yiskers I applied to MSB as an accounting major. Georgetown is definitely my top choice but if it doesn’t work out I have a couple of great in state matches.
They sent me an email saying that my interview requirement was waived and that it wouldn’t impact my admission decision whatsoever :(. I’m so nervous! I want an interview.
I also didn’t receive an interview I know that the portion of the application is waived, but I feel like it could have really helped me. I called and they said it could be because of regional availability, but I know there are a ton of Georgetown alum in my area
Weird… I never got a notification about the interview portion being waived nor received any notification about getting an interview
Any idea whether helps or hurts to have applied previously? (waitlisted as freshman)
@fjkdsdykh
It helps to have been waitlisted before. That’s the strong sense I got after reading the 2012 fall transfer thread.
If anyone didnt already pls send stats
Reading from other threads from last year’s transfer window, acceptance decisions mostly come before the deadline. Most people accepted heard like the first or second week of May.
I’m currently a freshman at my state school in the honors college (got accepted into Berkeley but couldn’t attend due to financial difficulties last year). Current college GPA is a 4.0. High school GPA was a 4.0 unweighted and 4.8 weighted (valedictorian). ACT score is a 30. In high school I was the varsity dance team captain, Model UN founder/president, IB council treasurer, and Key Club Lt. Governor. I’m currently on my college’s dance team, and I have 2 jobs (not doing many ECs ). I’m applying to transfer into the McDonough School of Business!
You were the valedictorian and only got a 30 on the ACT? How small was your class?
