Has anyone been rejected via email? Or do you send rejections via mail?
Georgetown should be ashamed of itself for this miscalculation. Based on the Facebook group, they’ve only accepted 30 students or so. That’s seriously messed up.
@bckid2020, are there any other issues that are driving your decision? I have a friend at GT and he says there is almost no school spirit and no sense of school comradery…yes, the acedemocs are highly respected and DC is a great town but he is not thrilled with the lack of a full college experience at GT- espcially for $70k per year…
@bbfan1927 I think most people on here prefer to make decisions based off of a sample size larger than one. :))
@joejoe…true… however, this is a longtime friend and I value and respect his opinions and observations…
Does anyone know how many people SFS accepts?
@g4gtown Not sure, but it seems that the College has admitted more people than both the business school and SFS.
I am new (and late) to this thread, but from what I gather by this point those who haven’t heard back will either be waitlisted or rejected, especially because there is such a huge freshman class this year. I applied to SFS as an International Politics major and like many of you had what seemed to be an excellent interview and similar stats. There might be a few more acceptances this week leading up to Friday, so fingers crossed. Best of luck to all of you who haven’t heard back yet!!
Did anyone hear back about the Spring option? We were supposed to hear back in April and May.
They probably had to cancel the spring admission option because of that enrollment cap.
I’m optimistic that they’re still going with that option. The spring admissions are meant to fill gaps created when people inevitably drop out or transfer mid-year; that’ll still happen dispite other factors, so it would make sense to move forward with the spring option.
Either way, more communication on the matter would seem like a basic courtesy.
Right? I mean I would definitely attend and am really sad that I’ll probably be rejected, but this whole process has been quite opaque and frustrating.
Hey everyone. Long time lurker, just wanted to pop in to let you know I got a decision in the physical mail.
I was put on the wait list for 2018 fall and also 2019 Spring. The letter explains that they only took 100 students for transfer for Fall so its not surprising there were so little acceptance replies that we saw here on the forums.
I know I should be disappointed, but I’m actually pretty proud of myself for getting on the waitlist They said that they will likely take students off the waitlist for Fall and Spring, so here’s hoping that I can find a spot! (Sociology/Philosophy double major btws)
Congratulations! Would you feel comfortable posting your stats?
@mysticmama when did you hear from them? Did you also get an email?
Good morning everyone I did not receive an email from them, only the letter in the post which was sent last Friday May 25th.
I’m not certain how helpful my stats are, as I am a non-traditional student coming from a decade of work experience…but I can tell you I was a horrible student in highschool, and did very poorly on my SATs back then… but my GPA now at my CC is 4.0, I’m in the honors program, etc. This improvement + my work exp was probably a large factor, paired with my desire to further my education at the university level, and of course, to go to Georgetown (the dream!)
I want to re-iterate that 100 students from 2.3k is such a small amount, and that they made it clear that they had to turn down VERY qualified students. This was a tough year, but don’t give up hope just yet …I know it is agonizing but keep your heads up and your eyes on your mail/email.

Could you post the exact text of the letter if it’s not too much work
Has anyone else not heard back yet?
Most people haven’t heard back.
transfers are generally filled by very unique situations. Military. Community college transfers older students with work experience. The amount of spots is very limited for those trying for a second chance to get in to the school. Go enjoy your school and your life. Think of the energy and stress you e endured for the past two years. It’s really not that great.
