Georgetown Fall 2018 Transfer

Also waiting for MSB

@BCkid2020, so if you don’t mind me asking, why are you transferring out of BC?

I applied to college for Government. I guess it’s time to pack it in and start planning for next year. Good luck to everyone

Anyone ask for an early read? I asked them for one since I had schools waiting for me to make a decision by June 1. I sent my committee chair the proof and everything. It’s been nearly a week, and I haven’t even gotten a reply. I’m wondering if this is normal?

@goodenough1910 I applied for Government as well and haven’t heard back either.

I believe last year before Memorial Day they sent out the bulk of the waitlists/rejections right?

Spoke to admissions counselor, bc of the overadmitting issue anybody that was already a shoe in will get accepted, others will be waitlisted and accepted on a space permitting policy

@parkcentral Does that mean that the people that have yet to hear back will not be accepted, only waitlisted or rejected?

What you mean? @parkcentral

And has any MSB applicant heard back yet?

parkcentral, what are you saying? “anybody that was already a shoe in will get accepted, others will be waitlisted and accepted on a space permitting policy” ??? HUH??? That makes as much sense as screen doors on a submarine…

Makes sense to me; let me see if I can translate:

“Only a few acceptances will be sent out, and only to the very most qualified candidates. The rest of those who would normally be accepted will be waitlisted, and accepted one by one as the admissions office gets a better sense of their transfer yield, and thus remaining space.”

And has any MSB applicant heard back yet?

No one on this forum who applied to MSB has heard back (or at least posted about it). Last year most results came out the Friday before Memorial day. We’ll see tomorrow, if things are the same this year.

@JoeJae @Hanyan I applied to MSB, got an early read and was informed I was a “likely waitlist”… I guess this means I was accepted? Lol

@clarifyingdetail thank u

@IvyBound511 May I ask when you asked them for an early read? I asked about a week ago and haven’t heard anything.

@IvyBound511, Other than your early read, none of the MSB applicants have heard anything.

@bbfan1927 well I want to transfer because I’m not enjoying the classes I’m taking right now. I would prefer to study international business at georgtown.

I called the admissions office today to find out if my letter has been sent out or not, since the university I’m at has a housing cancellation deadline by the end of the month. The guy told me the same thing deacon said in the interview to the Hoya, which is that they had to reduce the amount of transfer admissions due to the amount of freshman year admissions they had this year. He told me that if I haven’t gotten a letter yet, I will receive one either Tuesday or Wednesday that will be a denial or a waitlist at best, which is basically a denial. Sorry to everyone out there who hasn’t received one (like me).
