anyone know how many were placed on the waitlist?

Anyone else from CT still waiting to hear? Post office states the letter should arrive in 2 days, but it’s now 3!

My son got an email stating they did not have his Part II as of 2/15. My son called and was told to send an email. He sent an email, 3 in fact (one with vertification data showing when Part II was sent, one with all the dates, and one just a note). He never got a reply.

If anyone digs this up for class of 2015 and this happens to you, my advice is to send it in even if you did it once already. Send emails only to your admission rep. This burns, because it happened to my brother too, 37 years ago (w/ regular mail though, of course). His application was never read either.

Waitlisted SFS. That’s ok, as I got into my second choice school which is a top 20 school. I’m starting to believe this is a blessing in disguise as now I can go to Georgetown for graduate school (either law or a master’s at SFS), which is probably better in the long run.

Waitlisted at SFS. I’m seriously the perpetually waitlisted applicant. So, honestly, is being on the waitlist good or bad?

Does anyone have the statistics for the waiting list? A fragment on the email i received said this " However, the enclosed chart detailing the acceptance rate of Waiting List candidates in recent years might give you an understanding of your possibilities" but the enclosed chart didn’t come. If anyone posts the stats i would fully appreciate it. I will also extend the invitation to anyone that doesn’t have the desire to attend Georgetown to reject being in the waiting list so that those that really want in are able to fulfill their dreams.

@jesuspena91:
I’ll post the 2009 statistics they showed.

Wait-list Acceptance Percentage for Georgetown College: .15
Wait-list Acceptance Percentage for NHS: .22
Wait-list Acceptance Percentage for SFS: .13
Wait-list Acceptance Percentage for MSB: .13

Everything’s increased since 2003 except SFS.

Does anyone know what’s the best thing to do now? Does Georgetown want additional essays and recs, or do you sit here and just pray they take you later on? :(

I’m going to visit this Thursday since I’ll be flying to Maryland. Is it a good idea to talk to someone from the Admissions office?

Also, I want to have my name kept on the waiting list and I’m trying to electronically complete this, but the website told me to find my Georgetown ID on the yellow card and I have no idea which of the two sets of numbers on my card is my ID. There’s one to the left side of the slash and one to the right side of the slash. Ugh. I feel incredibly stupid for having to ask, but does anyone know?

I was waitlisted at McDonough, but I got into NYU Stern (BPE), which, from what I hear, is much better than McDonough overall.

^^ “much better” is not entirely correct but it’s a respected school. They are of about equal caliber so you should be quite happy with the outcome. Good luck!

My SAT II’s were clearly the weakest part of my application. Hopefully, that didn’t hurt me too much. I’ve accomplished a few things since then, so maybe notifying Georgetown of those will help.

waitlisted @ mcdonough …and no im not posting my stats up here (i think thats the biggest snob move, sorry). hope we all get in though!

waitlisted at college. If I get off the waitlist, what does that mean for financial aid?

waitlisted SFS. Depending what I hear from Columbia tomorrow I could really want to go to G’town. But, I didn’t really even expect a waitlist. I felt bad about my essay and I was kinda put off by the application and process. I never even got contacted for an interview. Or contacted that they couldn’t find anyone for an interview. I feel like that could maybe have helped me. idk. But hey I got into American, so if I decide to go to DC I still can!

Hi again!

Alright, so I went to the admissions office today. Uh, bad idea on my part, seeing as they are busy with information sessions and tours for freshmen/sophomores/juniors. I asked the lady at the front desk (after waiting for ten minutes due to the heavy volume of people in the building) if she could file my waitlist card and my letter. I then asked if I could speak to an admissions counselor, but she said that I would have to contact them first.

I contacted the dean of McDonough, but she said that she can’t have a meeting with me. I am now working with my interviewer to see what I can do.

So, for those actually planning to visit Georgetown…I probably would not recommend it as you have to make an appointment with someone beforehand and the undergrad office will tell you that the adcom can’t tell you much.

I really hope I can get in! Seeing everyone else’s stats…my chances are kind of slim because I have a lower GPA/lower test scores than all of you.

Anyway, good luck! you should give yourself a pat on the back for even being waitlisted!

If I get off the waitlist, what does that mean for financial aid?

No difference. Since there’s a promise to meet 100% of demonstrated need (as determined by the university), that doesn’t change.

Sissykitty, thanks for the info. Although I was planning on visiting tomorrow, it’s probably not a good idea to just walk in and ask for a meeting with an admissions officer.

I’m on the same boat as you: Scores and GPA not as impressive as everyone else’s, but it’s already a great compliment to be wait-listed.

does anyone have a link for the % of people that get off the waitlist?

Waitlisted at the College, FLL to be exact. Still keeping up hope!

And a link to the percentage accepted would be greatly appreciated.

Don’t worry guys, I guess there’ll be quite a few places for you…Georgetown accepts a huge number of internationals (including me) but they do not guarantee to meet their needs. And they don’t. So my place will be available for you, as I didn’t receive any aid, and I have heard of many others who didn’t.
Good luck!

Hey guys, which school is better the McDonough Business school or MIT’s Sloan?

does it make sense that SFS, supposedly gtown’s hardest school to get into has a pretty high admit rate over the last few years (compared to MSB and college)?
