**Georgetown University Offical Transfer Thread 2008**

Congrats to those who got in. I know everyone keeps asking this, but has anyone applying to the SFS heard anything yet?

I just got the response back from my admissions representative...she said congratulations, and that I am likely for admission. Still in slight disbelief...and good luck to all of you who are still waiting.

btw...I applied to MSB and I have a feeling that the MSB decisions were not made until this week because last year's MSB acceptances started to be received around this time.

Thanks northerngrl I think they look at SFS and MSB around the same time so I'll try calling tomorrow. I've sent some emails, but all of them went unanswered. When everyone emailed the Admissions Office what address did they use. I wonder if I need to email someone in particular and not just the general admissions office.

they gave me the name and email of my specific admissions person...they are divided up according to your school(at georgetown)/major...call the admissions office and just ask for your representative

got a letter in the mail today at my current school and was admitted to the college as as philosophy major.

wow, lots of decisions today...congrats northerngrl and casey :)

so yeah as I said, Elgguj would get in. So who was betting me cuz I think I just won a lot of money.

Congrats northerngrl and Casey! Hopefully I'll be seeing all you guys this fall!

p.s. someone should make a facebook group...

haha blackmamba...i probably wouldve bet against you, and then Id be paying you. someone should definitely make a facebook group...who wants to be the one to go out on a limb and do it?

guys, that's so great to hear you made it!! congrats!! it certainly seems very well deserved!

For those who received bad news, I'm sorry to hear it. it's such a tough process, and lots of talented people slip through the cracks.

i think today was reckoning day for me. i'm gonna call tomorrow and see if a decision was reached... wish me luck!

Does anyone else feel that, in the process of getting out, you actually came to be more involved in your own school? When I spoke to my dean and my professors, all of a sudden i felt like a valued part of my school. they put the cogs in motion to get me to stay, letting me move up into advanced classes that i didn't have prereqs for, getting me in touch with other professors and students who i would connect to, and just hearing my voice. i was asked to speak on panels about how to improve NYU. haha

I think that either way things go, there's some comfort knowing that you're valued. If you got in, that's great; Gtown wanted you! even if you stay at your current institution, i think that voicing your dissatisfaction helps you IMPROVE your situation for yourself. my school definitely came to me and asked, "what can we do to keep you?" i realize that you have to be proactive about making yourself happy, whether at Gtown or your current institution.

I also think being forced to write essays about future goals is kinda a beneficial self-evaluation. Those rec letters can be used for internships and jobs in the future...

I'll stop preaching now. it's just nice to feel some sense of peace about the whole thing, no matter what happens.

thanks guys...look forward to seeing you in the fall! And agreed sfkef....i think it has been a beneficial, albeit time-consuming, process overall.

For those accepted: did your financial aid offer come with your offer of admission? if not, then by when did the offer arrive?

For those pending / waitlisted: The best of luck! Make sure you show your continued interest in Gtown by updating them on ur activities and Spring grades.

FA comes separate i believe, as do transfer credit evaluations.

im a philosophy/gov major and my letter was postmarked may 7th (wednesday) if it helps those waiting.

Has anyone received a desicion from the political economy department yet?

Rejected - SFS.

is the interview important? and what the hell is idoc, they want me to send it

Kash_Money: I'm so sorry to hear that. Did you apply to any other schools?

pccgal: The IDOC (institutional documentation service) collects federal tax returns and other tax documents on behalf of the colleges. I know Georgetown and JHU require it. Look at this website for more info

Kash_money- im so sorry to hear that. i hope you find a place where you can be just as happy :) if you dont mind-what were your stats?

I just called the admissions office and they said they don't release decisions over the phone. This whole process is seeming more and more bizarre. I can't wait any longer!!!!!
