@Ashtash I didn’t contact anyone in particular. I just sent an email to Transfer Admissions to explain my situation
Good luck to everyone! Hopefully something come down today
can someone please explain the early read procedure to me? I thought Georgetown waits until second-semester grades are submitted to make a verdict? Does an early read alter your chances of admission? thanks
@dchopeful99 Georgetown does not wait until second semester grades are out to make a decision. I believe they will be coming out with decisions on most of the applications within a week or at most two. Unless you are waitlisted, they will not see second semester grades. In terms of an early read, it is a little hard to know if it impacts your chances. If they weren’t so close to being done with the process anyway, I would say it might lessen chances of getting in because they would want to know for sure that they want you no matter what the other candidates look like. However, at this point, I think they are basically done reading all the applications anyway and these are not really early reads–they are going to release decisions for everyone very soon I (before May 1). In that case, it can’t really hurt to ask for an early read, I just don’t think it means anything.
@etransfer2019 I agree. Asking for an early read at this point would neither help nor hurt your chances, but you’ll probably just hear back at the same time as anybody else. Since they said they would give a reply by May 1, then we can safely assume that the decision for everyone would also be released by May 1.
An early read by definition is that an applicant contacting the admission office directly to look into the decision on their application before its officially released.
So decisions are now coming out by may 1st?
@lolhalp Not sure yet
@lolhalp I was under the impression that the waves of decisions would begin on May 1 at the latest. It would be great if we all found out by May 1, but I don’t think that’s how it worked in past years.
It’s Georgetown Day today so I doubt they will release anything today.
It’s possible that they preset the response yesterday for a certain time this afternoon. Also, not sure that admissions has anything to do with Georgetown Day–its more of a student thing. There aren’t many Friday classes at Georgetown, but I don’t think classes are technically canceled so it is not a school holiday. FYI, my brother goes to Georgetown, so I am familiar with Georgetown day.
There are no classes today at all. I have very close friends who attend GU. It’s a crazy busy day for all on campus but I hope they did preset the decisions, fingers crossed
@polyscidreamer I think they released on Georgetown Day last year. Not 100% sure, but I think I remember seeing that on the thread
@Ashtash Last year they did release on Georgetown Day. Friday, April 27th. Preeeeeetty sure the first wave will be coming out this evening at 5:30p based on previous forums.
fingers crossed…
Should be hardcore studying for finals but instead I’m thinking about how funny it would be to be a Georgetown admissions officer reading this discussion right now. Fingers very crossed because I don’t think this is a sustainable lifestyle.
It sure isn’t. Fingers crossed x3.
Few more minutes
What is the indication for decisions today?
