@lili44 nah i don’t think so. the majority of majors haven’t heard back yet i don’t think.
Looks like it mainly NHS MBS and a small number for majors from the college, SFS might come out next week for sure
Did any Econ majors hear back yet?
Gov major in Georgetown College
@justroks Finally a gov decision! Congrats!
How many posts should I have to be able to send a message on cc?
Also have not heard anything. Is it possible that the decisions released yesterday were the rising juniors? It looks like most of the responses seemed to be rising juniors. I know they look at the sophomores differently than they do the juniors, with different space allocated for each. Just a thought. Anyone thinks there is any validity in this thought?
@justroks if you don’t mind, what year are you?
@etransfer2019 that could be a reason…
@etransfer2019 I hope that’s the case since I am a sophomore transfer too.
They release it by school/major not class status b/c most transfers spend 3 years at GU if they transfer end of sophomore year
My understanding is they look at rising sophomores separately from rising juniors. This is because of housing issues. Through junior year at Georgetown, the college has committed to the city that students will live on campus. Housing is very tight at Georgetown and so they have to watch the numbers for each year. The students that are currently freshman will have to live on campus two years and the current sophomores will only have be one year on campus. So far, I think they have released some responses from all schools. BTW, I have known several junior transfers to graduate in two years. They came in with a lot of AP credits and college credits and if that doesn’t work, they take an online Georgetown class or two.
I’m a rising sophomore gov major who was accepted yesterday
Most of my friends at Georgetown all had to spend 3 years and come in as a sophomore due to the requirements of their majors. They have 60+ credits and still do 3 years. Also I don’t think anyone from SFS has heard back at all, and the decisions are looked at mainly by schools and then class status but school/major comes before the actually status per past post that show this
I agree, they first break it down by school, but then I think they break it down by year. But one way or the other, we will all know shortly. How long you have to spend to graduate is probably dependent on where you are transferring from and what kind of courses you have taken. I have all mainstream classes, no unusual freshman seminars or anything like that. Every transfer school I have been accepted at has taken all my credits and a lot of AP credits. Georgetown requires that you do 60 credits on their campus which means if you are a junior, 5 courses at 3 credit each for 4 semesters. That can be done, but it does not give you a lot of wiggle room. An extra year is very expensive, so not a great option for everyone.
I’m also a rising sophomore that applied to gov, and I’m not hearing back until Tuesday. Who knows how they make decisions on certain ones and not the others. It must be on some sort of schedule because I was given a date last week
Our daughter transferred in as a junior. We were disappointed that GT did not give her credit for some classes she had taken at her former top 20
School. These were not fringe classes and she did also have to retake a class simply because it was in her major and they required it to be taken at GT.
She will graduate in 2.5 years after starting at GT. Also we have never heard of simply taking a few GT online classes, as to our knowledge this is not an option. GT has been a great school, but they are very particular about what classes you take, where and in what order.
Hey all,
Just wanted to drop a line to tell all of you to breathe in and out, we’ll all find out eventually.
I understand that applying to elite programs is nerve-racking and anxiety-inducing, but like with all events critical to our lives, it passes. It doesn’t matter if you’re applying to the Naval Academy or GT, election watching, or enduring something else - it all passes, in a matter of moments, days, or months.
Your undergraduate institution will not define you. The halls of government, the intelligence community, areas of the private sector, and academia are filled with graduates of all sorts of schools.
Not that it wouldn’t be great to attend GT… But Keep Calm and Carry On!
vegas1 My cousin also transferred as a junior into McDonough. He graduated a a year ago in two years at GT. If you look online, GT has about 10 or fifteen online classes they are teaching this summer in a wide range of majors/core requirements, by regular full-time professors. He said many of his transfer friends stayed for the summer and took summer school to graduate on time, but he wanted to do an internship, so he did a summer online class or two. Unless its changed very recently, you can get credit for two online classes at GT. If I get in, and decide to go to GT, he suggested I take one this summer. Summer school is expensive, and not sure how financial aid works with that, but probably cheaper than going an extra semester. He also agreed that GT can be tricky and unpredictable with giving credit, especially within major.
