I’m from NJ and I just got my letter… and it’s the extended waiting list! No details of any numbers in the letter, so does anyone know anything about chances for extended waitlistees? Good luck to everyone else!

I’m curious about this extended WL thing. Are only a subset of people getting on it, or is everyone? What does the letter say?

I believe there is talk of an extended waitlist in prior years threads.

congratulation! what size envelope you get? small thin envelope?

I have also been extended waitlisted. The letter says “The committee has informed most candidates that it will not be possible to consider their applications further. In a small number of cases such as yours, the Committee has offered candidates the opportunity to keep their names on an extended Waiting List to be considered for the few additional spaces we expect may become available.” The extended waiting list envelope felt thickish. There was the letter, response letter, and an envelope inside. Another month and a half of waiting, I guess:/

Argh. The continued wait seems brutal. But if you really want to go there, I guess it’s worth the wait. Good luck!

Nothing in today’s mail in the south central US

@nycsp2p We live in Washington state. My son was told fewer than 10 students would be admitted to the SFS off the wait list.

I just got the extended waitlist letter in WA, for the College. I think I will stay on it and actually send them an update this time…

Extended waitlist here. The only numbers in this letter are dates.

Youdon’tsay I am also curious on the size of the subset. How many are offered a spot on the extended waitlist and how many elect to stay on? Historically how many have been pulled from the extended waitlist?

Extended waitlist here in Minnesota.

Forgot to include for the College

According to this Georgetown Admissions article in The Hoya, the extended waitlist consists of 100 students and approximately 25 will be admitted. The link is at [Admissions Yield Up for Top Students - News - The Hoya](http://www.thehoya.com/news/admissions-yield-up-for-top-students-1.3043857)

Good Luck to everyone!!

Thanks for that link! Lots of good information there! Only 100? Argh. Glad ds isn’t in that position.

Clarifying question about the Extended Waitlist, which I got put on… If I were to be admitted, could I find out ANY time between now and June 30? Will they be filling open spots with Extended Waitlist students AS those spots become available, or all at one time?

Thank you AvonHSDad!

Conflicted, you could call them. :)

I wish StanfordTree would weigh in on the numbers. Reading the article it looks like GU expects to have 1561 confirmed deposits + 50 waitlist offers out less 5 waitlist declines + few other deposits coming in which leaves somewhere around 1610 offers out there. The goal is 1580 to start so they probably want about 1585 as of June 30th. My guess they will start pulling from the extended waitlist if and when they get to about 1585 still planning on attending. That is they need to lose 25 or so before they start pulling from the waitlist.

Thus my guess is they will pull one at a time depending on from what category they need to replace.

Conflicted, that’s how I read it (that you could find out anytime between now and June 30). They’re dealing with very little wiggle room at this point.

I’m in CT and haven’t gotten a letter yet. Mail hasn’t come yet today obviousl, so I’m hoping ill find out today. Is it me or is there a noticeable trend that everyone posting was put on extended waitlist with the exception of deerills. Does that mean everyone who has gotten in or been put on extended wait list has find out? And that leaves us rejectees? My faith is dwindling haha

Obviously, found --posting in class haha
