Yes. The admission blog has been saying that selective schools will be relying on waitlists heavily. There is no way to predict yield in this environment when kids are applying to double the schools they normally do. I am sure it is particularly true for public ivies like GT/UVA/Mich/UNC which are often back ups for those applying to Ivys+ Hopefully that is good news but he needs to refocus and see where he wants to go instead.
Thanks for that consideration! Best of luck to your daughter!
Yeah, the waitlists aren’t his top choices so he’s not so worried about those, we just kind of keep laughing about it because for UNC, UVA, and GT we expected rejections, yet they were WL for UNC and GT and acceptance to UVA where no one seems to get in from our school unless they’re a legacy, which he is not. Then for UM we are just in the typical deferral game that they do with our high stats kids at our school and wait. But the rest of his decisions will come down between now and April 6 and then like @RockyPA things will be a lot clearer.
Also looks like a whole LOCI from what he told me. I haven’t looked at his portal at all since decisions posted but at least he has some good updates, but also needs to decide if he wants to make a visit down there since that was missed last year thanks to covid.
For those on waitlist, my OOS son was accepted but no financial aid offered. There will be some like us that may have to decline acceptance for this reason which may open spots. Perhaps that offers some comfort to a few.
Son waitlisted
GPA 4.0/4.4
ACT 36
Many APs
EC and leadership NOT in STEM
Unless offered a spot soon and with merit (haha), not a serious consideration anymore.
My D waitlisted also with very similar stats.
Where are the award letters in the acceptance?
dont think award letters were released
Did anyone get in for summer? There were a bunch EA.
Accepted! OOS with similar stats as well. Wrote common app essay about stem though.
Deferred InState AA Male EA1 No Test Scores Business
Waitlisted RD
Yikes
I read that financial aid packages will begin to come out mid April. Did you get a rejection? Or just nothing yet?
OMG I got accepted for CS as an OOS! Got deferred for EAII so I didn’t think I would have a chance lol.
My son is handling everything on his own but we will double check this. Thanks for the heads up.
Wondering the same… My son was accepted for fall, but he couldn’t do summer because graduation is too late in NY.
My daughter got in, OOS, will be doing either physics or math
Congrats!!

Looks like very few if any summer admits? Maybe holding those for waitlist enrollees .
My son was rejected for Fall 2021, but offered a transfer option for Fall 2022. I did not know colleges offered something like this. Is this new or always existed?
