he didn’t say I wouldn’t, just that it was a reach.

I’d like to chime in now and say that I knew it. I do very much enjoy being right.

why’d you think so, Veracity?

Sorry ilyssa1257, but I’m honestly super surprised that we both got in (having similar stats and all)… when all these 2200+ SAT 3.7+ GPA applicants are getting denied or waitlisted.

I should really take the great opportunity and go to Tech.

you should!! some of those are international applicants too.

ya, thats why I asked ppl just to say accepted/denied/waitlisted…nothing with this 50% chance, because if you get in, your in, not 50% in.

well you can say that you’re “50% confident” that you’re in
haha… AP Stats talk.

IN A WAY, it’s nice to know that all these amazing people aren’t getting in… cuz i wouldn’t feel as dumb there lol… aight i’ll shut up.

Is that so?

I’ll quote my original argument…

I guess not then! Good guess.

I cannot believe you got in ilyssa. I’m 110% honest. Your scores are not that great (GPA is okay) compared to the kids here getting 2300 and 3.8s and getting waitlisted. It absolutely bogs my mind how you would get in before those kids.

I’m sorry it has to be said but…

Stranger things have happened…

they are international

nope, even those who aren’t international are being denied.

G.P., when I gave you my stats (same SAT as ilyssa1257 except my writing was higher)… and you said it’s definitely a big reach for me! haha

Well, w/e. Congrats on your acceptance. If I don’t get into Tech next year, I’m going to be so bitter (as I see a lot of waitlistees are right now) knowing that the reason I didn’t get in could be b/c the admissions person was having a bad day. Such a crapshoot.

I’m surprised too…

I had a 3.6 GPA and a 2100 SAT score, and i got waitlisted. AND I’m an asian, in-state, female…

my friend who got a 36 on the ACT and a 3.5 in mostly APs got rejected. why, because he filled out his application/wrote his essay January 14 at 11:30PM.

^^Sonakay - I don’t think in-state helps all that much. When you look at it, probably double, maybe even triple (or more!!!) the amount of in-state students apply, so I think it’s normal to see 68% of kids in-state. I don’t know if it’s an advantage. Why would it be? Tech could get so much more money (esp in a budget crisis like they are having) out of an OOS kid.

how would the time you fill out your application have an effect on the admission decisions?.. I though they were viewed together, and not like a rolling thing(they view it as they get it).

do u think you could write a good essay and do a good job making sure you fill out your application all in 30 minutes with no mistakes.

He likely already wrote the essay and just had to copy/paste.
