Getting Interviewed

How important was getting interviewed and how did they select people to interview? I wonder if basically everyone got one..

I was accepted RD for '15, but I didn't even know Cornell had been interviewing in the first place! Were you interviewed, and how was it?

You’re selected for interview randomly. It has very little bearing on admission.
I did not get an interview, and I got accepted. I know people who have gotten interviews, and were rejected.

if you will search this topic, you will find many threads on this very thing…and they are NOT interviews, they are Alumni Information Sessions…some alums insist in believing that they are interviewing you, but they are INFORMATION SESSIONS.

I definitely agree that it’s an information session, not an interview. I probably had about ten interviews during the college application season, and Cornell’s was by far the most relaxed and least probing. I almost felt sort of concerned that my interviewer asked me only one or two little questions, but I found out a lot about the school that I didn’t know before. Interviews are given randomly, and they’re definitely not what I’d call an “interview.” More like a conversation centered around Cornell.

I think it may also depend if there is an interviewer living near you.

Also, not all of the schools interview.

the ONLY schools that INTERVIEW are Hotel and Architecture…they’re required

CAS, CoE, ILR, HumEc, CALS are all INFORMATION MEETINGS with a local volunteer Cornell Alum through CAAAN on an as available basis.
