What would USC want to see from a prospective transfer student coming from a private four year college?

3.5 gpa...good essay

or even better, 4.0 GPA and good recs.

Well I can manage the GPA and certainly I can produce a good essay, but about how much in the way of extracurriculars should I have?

Intelliot, transfer students do not send letters of reccomendation

Okay. I really don't know anything about transferring; I just felt like putting in a word.

Get some connections. I know someone who knew someone who knew someone to get in. His dad was a high ranking officer in a publicly held corporation.

Im applying as a transfer for this coming fall too.

I attended Transfer Day held back in November and i had a chance to chat with the asst. director of admissions and he stressed these things:

-completing GEs
-Difficulty of classes/major/full time student
-GPA (avg transfer ~3.5)
-Consideration of ECs, jobs, etc.
-ESSAY: more important than you think. He said an essay in some instances, is the turning point for an app.

this wait to hear back is excruciating!!!!! good luck

usc, did you finish intermediate algebra? i'm taking it this semester. Also, according to my transfer counselor at my CC, who himself is a USC alumni, the admissions workers also pay close attention to the grades you get in english 101 and 102. I got an A and a B, respectively.

i took Calc 1 Honors and got a B- :(

i took Honors 100 which is an equivalent to eng 102 and got an A-

Tranfers do in fact submit rec letters, but they are optional.

jodu, i was told that submitting letters of reccomendation was old for specific majors. I do not know which those majors are, but when i spoke to usc admissions, they said polysci majors do not submit letters of rec.

i heard they were optional as well, but if you can someone high up at USC write you a good rec it couldn't hurt.

guitarshark85, I'm not so sure about that. I knew someone with good enough stats for UCSD whose rec letter to USC was from the director of housing and, on top of all this, was a legacy (or SCion). He didn't get in.

The stats USC wannabe posted seem about right. Best of luck!

mega, are you saying he would've been better off not sending rec letters?

No, I suppose not. More like, "focus on what they'll definitely consider, and has a viable impact on your admission first."

Just recieved the acceptance package today. Had a 3.6 for global bus

but i was from a california community college and i know its harder from a four year college

denverted, when did you apply?

also, what school is global business under? didnt see it anywhere on sc's website
