Getting to Oakland Airport from Unit 3

Going back for Thanksgiving and need some help :3 so far, all I've found is this at college ******* (<--starts with p and ends with rowler) from a google search:

BART to Airports Using BART and transferring to a local bus is the cheapest and easiest option, if you don’t have a lot to carry. Oakland Airport by BART: catch the Richmond-Fremont line in the Fremont direction and get off at Coliseum. Take an Air-BART shuttle to the Oakland Airport (these leave every 15 minutes and cost $2). Buy your ticket in the station before boarding the bus (runs Monday–Saturday, 6 a.m.–11:50 p.m.; Sunday, 8:30 a.m.–11:50 p.m.). You can also take AC Transit bus #58 from the Coliseum BART to the airport (runs daily, every 20-30 minutes from 5 a.m.–12 a.m. and hourly, 12 a.m.–5 a.m.). SFO by BART: an extension has just been constructed to take you directly to SFO via BART. Get on the Daly City train at the Downtown Berkeley station, transfer at Balboa Park onto the SFO train. One-way costs about $6.

So a few questions if I go this route:

That's pretty much what I need to know :D
I've never taken this and don't want to fork cash for a taxi, so this is pretty much my option. And approximately how long should this trip take to get to the airport?

Thanks a bunch for your time!

Downtown Berkeley
Check for the stop before Coliseum (I think Fruitvale?) and then get ready to get off after that one.
SID card does not work. At BART station, purchase a BART ticket, for the 1-way trip to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport stop. Add $4 to the ticket so you can use that for AirBART also. Machine takes credit card or cash. otherwise, have $4 in cash, no change available.

About 45 min-1hr.

^
yep pretty much it.

I am planning to leave at 3PM from Berkeley to OAK through Bart on Thanksgiving Thursday. Does the BART run on a normal schedule on thanksgiving day? Does the airBART also run normally on that day as well even though it’s a holiday? Thanks.

airbart fare is $3, not $4

I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of students going to Oakland airport, so you don’t need to stress too much. What time are you going back?

like 4PM on thursday. If I leave at 1pm, I should be able to get through security and everything on time right? And please tell me there will be an airbart bus from the station to the airport because i do not want to walk the scary streets of oakland on thanksgiving day :(

tried and true strategy: if you start walking/bussing to downtown berkeley BART 2 hours before your flight. you will wait 30-45 minutes for your flight (travel and security counted = 1 hr 15-30 mins)

if you’re feeling ballsy/dont want to wait, get on the 2nd BART that leaves after 2 hours prior to your departure time

good times waltzing straight onto the plane from security.

Can someone reassure me that there will be an airBART bus on thanksgiving day :frowning: I am afraid of walking to the airport.

[Oakland International Airport: BART and AirBART](http://www.flyoakland.com/bart_airbart.shtml)
it says 8am on holidays, so you’re in luck
AirBART operates between OAK and the BART Coliseum/Oakland Airport station daily, approximately every 10 minutes, until midnight. Service begins at 5 a.m., Monday through Saturday, and at 8 a.m. on Sundays and holidays.

Thanks totalcaprice! I am so neurotic and paranoid that I even called BART to ask twice and they said yes, LOL.
