How many pairs of shoes do you own? What kind are they (pump, peep toe, strappy heel, clog, sandal, slingback, slip-on, etc...)?

I have
1 pair of dress shoes (strappy heel)
2 pairs of flip flops
1 pair of sneakers

I didn't spend more than $20 on any of them. I'm not really a shoe or bag person. I am going to get a pair of boots or two for when I go upstate (NY) and want to play in the ton of snow I'm going to be getting. (;

Do you wear sunscreen everyday? What SPF?
I never wear sunscreen. Nobody in my family does and they all have good skin, even my grandparents. So yeah. :|

I really like shoes, but I'm also super-cheap. I usually head for the shoe section in TJ Maxx/Marshalls =)

TONS of flats (copper, gold, silver, black with a giant bow on the toe, plain black, light gold with cut-out designs, red patent leather with pointy toes, brown velvet with a semi-quilted design, shiny white!!!)
1x tangerine-y colored Converse-like shoe (I got them because they're waaaaay comfier than real Converse... haha =P)
1x flip-flops (I hate having exposed toes... I try to avoid flip-flops when I can)
1x weird sandal-like things (they cover my toes!!!)
1x good running shoes
1x those sneaker-flats (I'm not sure how to describe them)
3x slippers
2x nice heels (one black, the other matched my prom dress)

...yeah...

But, keep in mind that all of these shoes were incredibly cheap =P

...everyday or frequently? or only for dates or going out?

I wear makeup...well...sporadically. I don't feel like I really need any, but I so think I look better with a little make-up. For work (and I work at a daycare center) I rarely wear any because I don't see the point, regular days it just depends, and I always wear some if I'm going out on a date or just a night out with friends.

...if you do wear it frequently, do you feel self-conscious or insecure when you're not wearing it?

I only feel self conscious about not wearing makeup if I have a blemish or something that I forgot to cover up with a bit of concealer.

...Do you get more compliments and more attention when you are?

Hm...never really took the time to notice. I'd say I get compliments/hit on either way, but probably more with makeup. But that might just be because when I'm wearing makeup I'm generally in areas like the movies, mall, etc where that happens as opposed to Walmart or work where it wouldn't, regardless.

How much makeup do you wear? Eyeliner and eye shadow only? Something like this or more like this? (More natural looking as opposed to... full-face)

I use the Bare Essentials stuff, just to start by saying that...but when I wear makeup, I always wear a mixture of black and brown eye shadow for liner (put on with a liner brush) and then do a bit of the smokey thing with the brown with an eye shadow brush and a small amount of mascara. Then I might use a bit of the concealer as a light base, sometimes a little of the warmth stuff, and then the mineral veil. Oh, and I never wear lipstick or lip gloss...hate both with a passion (I look too overly done-up with lipstick and I hate how sticky and gooey lip gloss makes my lips feel). If I wear anything on my lips, it's just plain chapstick.

...Do you feel more self-confident about yourself?

I guess only in the way that I know I put a little more effort into my appearance, and I think most people feel better about themselves when they care enough to look their best.

...add any other comments.

I've had a lot of comments that people can't even tell when I'm wearing makeup because I don't use very much when I do, but I don't see how they can't at least see the eye makeup. I dunno, but yeah.

is the bare minerals worth it? i've been hesitant to buy it

I've been using it for about two years now and I'll never go back to Clinique or Estee Lauder - which I used before. It covers any blemishes, redness, uneven tones, or dark circles remarkably well without feeling or looking like you've had to cover up anything at all. It's also very good for anyone with sensitive skin or skin that's prone to breakouts.

I was a bit hesitant at first because the starter kit was $70something (which is foundation, concealer, warmth, mineral veil, and I think three different brushes), but I went ahead and tried it anyway and love it. Looking back, though, the price for the kit is really cheap for how much you get and how long it actually lasts. Like since I don't wear everything every day (and have added to my original collection so have more choices), I'm still using most of the original cases of makeup. I think the only thing I've had to replace more than once is mascara...and I bought some extra brushes for different things.

Do you wear make-up? Almost never, however, I might start wearing it more frequently at college.

Everyday or frequently? or only for dates or going out? The only time I've worn make up in the past year is for prom (well, except for the few times I've worn lip gloss going out). In college I'm thinking I'll wear it a bit more; but not just if I'm going to class and that's it.

Do you get more compliments and more attention when you are? Well, the last time I wore make up it was prom and between my hair, my make up, and my dress I did get more compliments than usual... but that's only to be expected at prom :D

How much makeup do you wear? Eyeliner and eyeshadow only? a bit of powder concealer if I need it... then lipgloss. I'm also going to add in the eyes for college I think... but I haven't quite worked that out yet... I'll have to experiment first

How much do you spend on makeup? nothing. I get free makeup because my dad's in the cosmetic industry so the companies send him all these sample bags and whatnot

Do you have an expensive handbag too? I have two Dooney & Burke bags (not that it matters to me). My mom's kind of taken over one of them, however, so I really own just one. It's plain brown which suits me fine. I'm not really into the whole accessories thing all that much.

How many handbags do you have? Three. The two I mentioned and then a black fabric one which was my first ever bag.

Are you swayed by consumer culture? I'd say that I dress the way that someone my age would be expected to, I guess. But I don't really care... I buy what appeals to me and ignore which trends I less than like

...is this just a woman thing? Depends on the man and woman in question.

Do you get your eyebrows waxed? I tweezer a bit... but only to get rid of the odd hairs. I like a natural look and normal, not heavily tweezered eyebrows is a part of that to me

Do you get tanned? If I'm at the beach my skin will tan, but I don't like laying out in the sun with the purpose of getting tan. If you do that too much with my skin type (light olive) you've got an excellent chance of getting melanoma and dying which doesn't sound like fun. And no, I don't go to tanning salons or use fake tanners either.

Manicures and pedicures? I hate having people touch me who I'm not friends or family with (or dating), so no. If I want my nails done, I'll do it myself

Hair salons? I go to a salon, but it's not one of the big chain ones... it's a little one, privately owned by the main hairdresser and only has four chairs, one of which is exclusively for make-up and up-dos

How much do you spend on beauty products? Well, nothing on make-up thanks to dad. But hair products are expensive and I have the type of hair that needs products... so probably 20 or so dollars every month or so.

VS Bras? I've never actually been in a Victoria's Secret. It just doesn't do much for me. Sure I like pretty/cute/sexy underwear, but you can get that at a much cheaper price and the same quality elsewhere if you try.

Also, what do you think of corsets? As a shirt its kind of blehhhhhh... but I could see it in some sort of intimate, kinky situation maybe....

Fake eyelashes? Fake nails? ...fake hair? No, no, and no. I have great eyelashes, great hair (as long as I have my products), and nice enough nails. No point.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? What kind are they (pump, peep toe, strappy heel, clog, sandal, slingback, slip-on, etc...)?

1 pair of boots
1 pair of sneakers
2 pairs of casual flip-flops/sandals
3 pairs of nice sandals
2 pairs of formal sandals (from the assorted proms I've attended)
1 pair of birkenstock clogs
2 pairs of high heels
That makes 12, I guess. I'll be getting a new pair of shoes that aren't Birkenstocks but which are closed toe flats shortly, so that will be 13. Oh, and a pair of very cheap flip flops to wear in the shower which makes 14.

*Do you wear sunscreen everyday? What SPF? * Only if I'm going to be outside under the sun for hours (sports, the beach, the pool, etc.). The SPF depends on how much of a tan I have at the time and what part of my body it's going on. It can vary between 30 and 50.

Oh my... I was gone for a weekend and a gazzilion more replies...
1. How much do you spend on makeup? umm i guess my whole make up collection sums up to.... $300? but I didnt buy it all at once.. it was throughout the years haha
In high school, I used to feel bad about shedding out $10 bucks or so for a crappy stick of eyeliner. (I've switched to thin brush and bottle-of-ink-esque designed thing for painting my eyes.) My make-up collection amounts to around $300 at this point too if I consider how the compacts my mother bought me a few years ago (that I have never used). At least, it takes me a really long time to use all of the stuff up fwiw.
But I want to once because I have so many disgusting tan lines, I wanna even those out.
I have tan lines on my feet from wearing flip-flops all the time. Yay LA weather and friendliness towards flip-floppin'! :p
I used to, but my skin cleared up after I stopped wearing so much so it's not that bad now.
I used to have really bad acne in high school. Using products and concealers to make it semi-decent looking was such a drag. A lot of the times, my skin would just become even more aggravated so I had the choice between a semi-aggravated "pinkish" face opposed to a rough and rocky even colored map/face.
I wear foundation (either Physicians Formula MineralWear loose or Maybelline Pure),
I can't wear foundation... I mostly just use the bronzer to help even things out.
If anyone knows of a good foundation for a pale olive undertone, tell me!! I've gotten a bit of a tan this summer and my old colors aren't really working for me anymore. I mostly use drugstore stuff, but want to try more high-end stuff (esp. MAC!).
MAC and Sephora are more relevant to your/our age group. The other stuff? Shiseido? Old people. Clinique? Most known for being skin-friendly (moisturizers, lotions, skin cleansers, toners, etc.) Argh... just go for MAC! :p

Thank you InquilineKea for your comments... you're not a girl but OK sure.
I actually don't wear make up on a regular basis (besides lip gloss). Haha, I'm the only one?
Mmm.. it takes me like 5 minutes to put on eyeliner and some shadow. Not too bad! It gets easier with more practice (like all things).
I think only certain people look good in makeup. Some people, ie my best friend, look just absolutely awkward in makeup because it doesn't fit her personality. Moreover, it depends on your face structure/face shape/features that determine what kind of makeup looks good on you, if any.
Color scheme, quantity, and which features you decide to highlight IRT to the above. My friend's eyes are single-lidded and they kinda are arched downwards. She has pretty thick lashes and you can't notice the effects of eyeliner too much except that later on in the day, it starts wearing off (yeah go stick-liners) and showing as smudges. Pink lips complement her pale, milky face though and her generally pink lips. Dark/black hair helps accentuate this as well.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? What kind are they (pump, peep toe, strappy heel, clog, sandal, slingback, slip-on, etc...)?
I have two pairs of leathery black low-heels for job interviews and things that require business casual or business professional clothing. I have a pair of sparkly, silvery strappy heels from prom... that I never wear. I have two pairs of wedges. I have 2 pairs of running shoes (well, it's of necessity...) and like 5 million pairs of flip-flops. I have 2-3 pairs of boots at home that I don't need to use in LA.
What shoes would you never wear? Why?
I really don't understand Crocs. They look like a child's shoe from kindergarten that has been magnified multiple times... they are in outrageous colors... they look uncomfortable... and remind me of wedging your foot into something that could be used to scrub your toilet. (OK Not really... but the material looks plunger-like).
Do you wear sunscreen everyday? What SPF? Yes! At least 30 SPF and sometimes I use the 55 SPF if I think I'm going to be hardcore sweating in the sun.
No... only because I have been lazy to purchase any... I need to apply it most thoroughly around my forehead since it tans the easiest... my skintone is definitely not even within my face... hello bronzer...
I didn't spend more than $20 on any of them. I'm not really a shoe or bag person. I am going to get a pair of boots or two for when I go upstate (NY) and want to play in the ton of snow I'm going to be getting. (;

Lawl i just go to Ross for shoes... and eveyrthing else someplace lallala ...
... I'll have to experiment first
This was one of the most difficult steps for me... I essentially never wore anything significant IRT make-up during high school. During the past summer and the summers before I've summoned enough courage to talk to the semi-intimidating make-up artists... and then learning the lingo and trying to figure out the best artists or differences between make-up counters.... and also comparing them to Rite-Aid type things...
I went to Ross when I was in Nevada and really loved it. They don't have one in NY though. =-(

Are you happy with the way you look? What are you self-conscious about? What things have you done to alleviate any of your perceived "flaws"? What's your style? Fashion? Brands?
I'm content, I guess. Nothing in particular. I used to get made fun of before I lost 65 pounds, and my self-esteem still hasn't bounced back. :P Nothing really. I've went through a lot of different styles. Right now I like fitted jeans that flare at the bottom and looser stuff on top, like stuff from forever21 or wetseal/contempo, the ones with sleeves anyway. Not the graphic t-shirts though, I've already had that phase. ;P

What do you think about $100-200++++ priced jeans? Why?
That's insane. If I find jeans in a store that expensive I'll laugh. The most I ever spend on a pair of jeans is $40, but usually I'll spend $20 - $30.

What magazines do you subscribe to? (Doesn't necessarily need to be Seventeen, Vogue, Cosmopolitan... throw in Economist, Nat'l Geographic etc)
None.

Tampons or pads?
Pads.

Shoes: I actually just gave about 10 pairs to Goodwill, so this is my reduced collection. lol

1 pair of black and white leather peeptoe slingbacks (look hot with jeans)
1 pair sparkly black 4 inch peeptoe heels
1 pair black patent leather 4 inch peeptoe heels
1 pair black leather 4 inch peeptoe heels
1 pair brown leather 3 inch peeptoe heels
1 pair silver strappy 3.5 inch heels (totally gorgeous)
1 pair gold strappy gold 3 inch heels (prom shoes)
1 pair sparkly bronzish 3 inch heels (really uncomfortbale... i wear them like once a year)
1 pair green 3 inch slip on heels (i know i know... green... they are a funky twist with jeans)
1 pair black and white 2 inch slip on heels
3 pairs of Birkenstocks (1 gray suede sandal, 1 brown leather sandal, 1 brown clog)
1 pair brown flip flops (i wear them 24/7)
1 pair non-athletic sneakers
3 pairs of volleyball shoes (2 black/white, 1 red/white)
1 pair of tennis shoes
2 pairs of running shoes

Total = 21 pairs

Do you wear sunscreen everyday? What SPF? My makeup is SPF 15, but I don't wear any sunscreen beyond whats in that.

Are you happy with the way you look? Yes, I like the way I look. I used to think I was ugly, but that was back in middle school. I grew into myself in high school.

What are you self-conscious about? I don't like my chin. It's a cleft chin. I just don't like it. I think my nose could be a bit smaller and less bullbous too. lol

What things have you done to alleviate any of your perceived "flaws"? Nothing... I'm not getting plastic surgery or anything like that. I exercise every day so I don't gain weight, but that's it.

What's your style? Fashion? Brands? I'm casual, but I like to get dressed up for events and stuff. I'm pretty sure I was born in high heels. lol.. I like to be a little taller (I'm 5'4"). I like Banana Republic a lot. I'm a t-shirt and jeans girl. My non-teeshirt tops come from random little boutiques.

What do you think about $100-200++++ priced jeans? Why? I buy my jeans from Banana Republic, which are about $80 a pair. I try to get them on sale for about $40. I did try on a pair of True Religion Jeans, and I reallllly liked them. If I could shell out the $200 for them, I totally would. lol

What magazines do you subscribe to? (Doesn't necessarily need to be Seventeen, Vogue, Cosmopolitan... throw in Economist, Nat'l Geographic etc) I don't subscribe to any, but I buy read Glamour, Cosmo, Us Weekly, Star, People, In Touch, Shape, and Elle when I'm in a bookstore or an airport. I catch up on my fashion and celeb news whenever I fly. Intelligent magazines? EWWWWWWW... lol

Tampons or pads? Tampons. Pads feel like diapers.

NEW QUESTION: What type of underwear do you wear (bikini, low rise, thong, v/g-string, brazillian, tangas, etc.....)? We already mentioned that we spend the money on the VS stuff, so yeah... lol

NEW QUESTION: What type of underwear do you wear (bikini, low rise, thong, v/g-string, brazillian, tangas, etc.....)? We already mentioned that we spend the money on the VS stuff, so yeah... lol
I love boy-shorts and brazillian-cut. I don't wear bikinis (opt for short-shorts or boy-shorts) and I do like low-rise... I don't like feeling granny-undies-ish. I don't like butt floss. I didn't know what a tanga was until I googled it - not too fond.

Addendum to BRas: VS has that 100-ways-wear bra. It's pretty cute and ideal. . . versatile is an understatement . . . I'm not going to purchase one or anything ( no need ) since I have my fair share of everyday bras, strapless, push-up, strapless-push up, nude, etc.

Do you guys like body lotion/spray? Bath & Body Works? etc.
If I'm going to get anything @ B&BW, it's smelly body wash. I really don't like wearing smelly lotion - sweet pea and vanilla sugar or w/e are too strong for me! I prefer country apple and pear... the really classic fruits. I'm not sure why they don't have more citrus-y smelly lotions? (or am i making htings up?) maybe cuz it would make one sound like ant/roach-killer.

Also - skin care:
What's your skin-care routine? Do you have pimples or the occasional bump? Murad? Pro-Activ? Clinique? OTC products, St. Apricot's Scrub/Clean&Clear/Clearasil/etc. ...? How about Queen Helene? (From my exp. queen helene's mint julep masks is THE mask to have )

Underwear: I like thongs, not g/v strings. Can't even feel them anymore. lol... Brazilian cuts always ride up my butt. Not comfy at all. Boy shorts are ok. I hate granny panties and PANTIE LINES... EW... lol... I actually really hate the word "panty" in general. So all my non-thong undies are low-rise and seamless, so no lines.

Do you guys like body lotion/spray? Bath & Body Works? I'm pretty much the same as you. No smelly lotion, only smelly body wash. I hate hate hate the vanilla sugar scent. It makes people smell like cake. lol... I prefer the floral scents, not really a fan of the fruity scents. I don't really use perfume, I think its too strong.

What type of underwear do you wear (bikini, low rise, thong, v/g-string, brazillian, tangas, etc.....)? We already mentioned that we spend the money on the VS stuff, so yeah... lol
I wear low rise boy shorts. I would never wear thongs or anything like a thong. I don't see the point, I just wouldn't wear anything at all than.

Do you guys like body lotion/spray? Bath & Body Works? etc.
I use Trader Joe lotion. For anywhere that I need it, usually my hands, feet, and elbows.

**
What's your skin-care routine? Do you have pimples or the occasional bump? Murad? Pro-Activ? Clinique? OTC products, St. Apricot's Scrub/Clean&Clear/Clearasil/etc. ...? How about Queen Helene? **
When I come home from whatever I've been doing outside I use tea tree oil cleansing pads, in the shower I wash my face with tea tree oil. Once or twice a week I put my face over steam and get rid of any black head(s) I might have. I get an occasional pimple, more so in the winter than summer, I don't know why.

no one cares about makeup in china..

What type of underwear do you wear (bikini, low rise, thong, v/g-string, brazillian, tangas, etc.....)?
Boyshorts and thongs (because theres no stupid underwear line showing and their comfy)

Do you guys like body lotion/spray? Bath & Body Works? etc.
Lotion. baby oil is amazing as lotion. and i use a spray from bath and body works.

What's your skin-care routine? Do you have pimples or the occasional bump? Murad? Pro-Activ? Clinique?

i get those bumps like once every two months or so. i use any facewash.
I just learned recently though that neutrogena products are horrible for your skin because its alcohol based.

Do you wear sunscreen everyday? What SPF? My makeup is SPF 15.
I wear sunscreen when I play tennis and stuff

Are you happy with the way you look? My face, yes. body, sure.

What are you self-conscious about?
i used to be about my nose. but now i am about my overall body. Im not fat or anything, but I dont know.. I'm a girl? haha

What things have you done to alleviate any of your perceived "flaws"?
I exercise. Doesnt help, but I like to.

What's your style? Fashion? Brands?
I'm more urbanish I guess. I like some free people stuff. I shop at this one thrift store- beacons closet. Umm, diesel, lux, and things like that.
I dont even know how to describe it.

What do you think about $100-200++++ priced jeans? Why?
they suck. :) I would buy $100 or something a little over that, but nothing more.

What magazines do you subscribe to? (Doesn't necessarily need to be Seventeen, Vogue, Cosmopolitan... throw in Economist, Nat'l Geographic etc) Bazaar just comes... and I never prescribed it. National geographic!

Tampons or pads? Tampons
I just learned recently though that neutrogena products are horrible for your skin because its alcohol based.

I don't know anything about the efficacy of Noxzema products. They smell good? I never liked Neutrogena. Cetaphil is one of the gentlest cleansers.

Does anyone have any questions? such as -
How to pop a zit?
What should my facewash routine be?
Makeup tips?

What am I doing... 8:10am

girls should just put a minimum amount of makeup on.

yep cetaphil is the one to use

Are you happy with the way you look? What are you self-conscious about? What things have you done to alleviate any of your perceived "flaws"?
Most of the time I like the way I look. There are days when I'm self-conscious - mostly about my overall body shape/type. I would never consider myself fat, but I'm not stick-thin either. I don't work out as much as I should, and I've never really been athletic - in elementary I was the scrawny girl in class with a teacher who basically only payed attention to the kids who were future varsity athletes, and it did nothing to help my self-confidence in sports. In high school I played field hockey, which was fun but again didn't really help as I was the only honours/IB student on the team and couldn't really connect with the partier-type girls who hung out together on a regular basis. This summer I've been trying to do more about my lack of anything you could call athleticism. I recently ran a 5K, and I run about 3-5 times a week for 45 minutes. It's helping, and I think it will be easier to exercise more once I'm back in school - I'll be walking all over campus (and vancouver, since I have no car) and I'll have easier access to a gym and exercise classes. My bf and I are planning to take a swing dance class, which I'm really looking forward to. I worked out a bit in first year, not enough to noticeably tone up but definetly enough to avoid the freshman 15 (I'm pretty happy about that, actually - I didn't gain anything this year and some people I know pretty much ballooned!). I did, however, gain about 10 pounds during my two years in IB (too much studying! ahh!), and it would be nice to get rid of some of that.

What's your style? Fashion? Brands?
I don't really know what I would call it... classic, I guess. I get basics (jeans, t-shirts, etc) at places like Gap or AE, and then add some more "trendy" things from H&M or Urban Outfitters or random items from my travels. I'm actually a huge travel shopper - I buy a lot when I go away so that I'm not a clone of everyone else at home. I always pack a duffel bag in the outside of my suitcase just incase.

What do you think about $100-200++++ priced jeans? Why?
Pretty much unnecessary. I have a hard time finding jeans as it is! I'm nearly 5'4'' but I always need to buy the "short" or "petite" jeans, which you can never find with expensive brands. I know I could tailor them, but then it ruins the finish a bit, and who would want to ruin $200 jeans? I usually get AE or H&M jeans - around $40-$50 for a pair, which isn't too bad.

What magazines do you subscribe to? (Doesn't necessarily need to be Seventeen, Vogue, Cosmopolitan... throw in Economist, Nat'l Geographic etc)
I have only one magazine subscription, which is to the Economist - it was one of my high school graduation presents from my dad. It's fun getting mail at uni, actually. I have an online subscription to the Globe, one of Canada's national newspapers.
That being said, I read MarieClaire and Glamour whenever I'm in an airport and need something light for the plane. I also read MacLeans in the orthodontist waiting room. My aunt has a subscription to InStyle, so sometimes at her house I'll flip through those too.

Tampons or pads?
Depends on what I'm doing/where I'm going. Tampons are a must for working out.

What type of underwear do you wear (bikini, low rise, thong, v/g-string, brazillian, tangas, etc.....)?
Low-rise bikini mostly.

Do you guys like body lotion/spray? Bath & Body Works? etc.
I love stuff from the body shop. I don't actually use much lotion away at uni because it's so humid, but at home it's incredibly dry. I use the body butter lotion. For my regular "routine" I use their bath/shower gel in satsuma - the citrusy scent helps wake me up in the morning.

What's your skin-care routine? Do you have pimples or the occasional bump?
I used to have really bad skin, but it's gotten a lot better in the past year or two. I only really break out around that time of the month, otherwise I might have the occasional spot or two. I use the Body Shop tea tree oil mask a couple times a month, and their seaweed cleanser and toner once or twice a day (depending on when I shower/work out). For bad pimples, I have this stuff my doctor (not dermatologist, but my regular doc) prescribed called "Dalacin-T", which is really effective. If I'm going to wear makeup or sunscreen, I use clinique moisturizer as a base so I don't break out. Actually, now that you mention having questions - does anyone know of a good sunscreen (say SPF 30, not the SPF15 moisturizers), that doesn't make your face break out like crazy? I've tried almost everything and I always get pimples, which is not what you want on a beach holiday!!
