Go with my alternative University?

I am currently a sophomore at UW-Waukesha, and I applied to Whitewater, Milwaukee, and Madison to study Accounting. I got admitted to Whitewater and Milwaukee, but got postponed for Madison. The university will review my application after my Spring grades are sent (decision made by end of June), then the WI School of Business will decide my BBA admission status

Should I just go to one of my alternatives? I feel classes will be filled by July/August. If denied by UW-Madison, should I go to Whitewater or Milwaukee? Thank you in advance for your response.

I would hold out for Madison, as it is a much better school than your other choices and I think will help you out more career wise in the long run should you gain admittance. You will need to put in a deposit at your backup just to ensure you have a spot somewhere. You will likely lose that if you get in to Madison. (But, you could ask your backup school if you could possibly get an extension as to when you must deposit. Some schools will allow this.)

Don’t worry about classes filling up. I’m sure there will be SOME Things left. Yes, you may not get the ideal class times or professors, but that is generally how it is at most places for new students. Incoming freshman and transfers are the lowest in the pecking order for course registration. Current students are probably registering for their fall classes right about now. And IME, freshman and transfers register for their courses at their orientations, usually over the summer. Some schools do set aside some course spaces for those kids. I can’t recall if Madison does this or not. But it is what it is. Just worry about getting in first. And if you do, then sign up for the earliest orientation you can, unless they set aside spots for each orientation session. And, if after doing that, you find that things are filled up, just be flexible. You can put yourself on course waiting lists. Some schools have so much movement during the add/drop periods that you can change your entire schedule around. YMMV. Or find out if there is a way for a professor to override the system, if it is a course you need for your major. Some schools do that. Or maybe you just get some electives out of the way right off the bat. You may not have the perfect schedule your first semester. But, the next one will be better as you (hopefully) will be an existing student by then, and will be able to register with your peers!

Yeah I’ll probably register and attend orentation at Whitewater so I show I’m interested in attending. If Madison admits me cancel UWW, that way I won’t have to constantly wonder where I’m going next Fall. Thanks.

Whitewater it is! I will have to wait until June to hear from UW and I doubt I will be admitted to the BBA program considering I learned who quite a few of the other prospective students are. But I’m glad to go to Whitewater. Continuing Accounting and studying abroad in Spring 2017.

I am admitted to UW-Madison. I now am awaiting BBA Application status…

Denied by BBA. I have the option of reapplying in the Spring as long as I don’t take more than 20 more credits. I will be speaking to advisers at both universities before I make a final decision. I have used the Transfer Information System wizards and found an overlap in BBA requirements at both universities. I may be attending classes in Madison and use my second and last chance to apply to the BBA, and if not admitted transfer the credits I take there to Whitewater’s BBA requirements. I will be speaking to advisers though at both universities prior to making that move though.
