if i were to go to san diego state university and get a 4.0 while there would i have the same chances of getting into a top tier law school if i were to go to lets say uci and get the same grades?

Get admitted to school

Do some actual college work so that you can actually have a GPA to speak of

Get some Actual LSAT scores

Ask question again when you are a college junior and you have completed steps 1 & 2

Yes, for larger top law schools (Harvard, etc.) that focuses on numbers. May lower your chances at smaller top law schools (Yale and Stanford) that takes a more holistic approach to evaluating applications.

i am a sophomore in college atm. I was supposed to transfer to uni last year but didnt because of complications, so im actualy a jr but I was admitted, to ucr, ucsc and sdsu last year. anyways im looking at nyu, fordham, and a couple others. will this really be that big of an issue if i were to do amazing while at which ever school i am at?

It doesn’t matter. The LSAT matters far more than your undergrad, and for most T-14 schools, more than your GPA.
