"Good" and "Bad" Deferral Letter

I got the “good” letter and my 7th semester grades are as follows:
AP Gov: A
Trig: A-
Media: A
H English 12: A
AP Biology: A
Stats: A

think I will get in?

your chances are VERY high…i would say definitely :D

I am OOS though lol…idk if my counselor included my UMID which isn’t good but oh well, I think I’m gonna construct an additional info to include some new EC’s and such

^maybe, maybe not. it’s hard to tell, since UM doesn’t reject anyone in the first place.

Yeah I got the one that CC had

^ Who wrote your letter? like was it the “Admissions Counselor” or someone totally different? I assume you have the third type of letter that we didn’t yet discuss

My first trimester grades are:

AP Bio: B+ (1% off from an A-. =[ )
AP Lang: A
Music History Appreciation: A
Honors Ethics: A
Yoga: A (grad. requirement)

My second trimester grades are looking like this:

AP Psych: A
AP Bio: A
AP Lang: A
French-IV: A
Calculus: A

What are my chances?

I received the “good” deferral letter. I called today to find out why I was deferred. All he would say is one grade last year. I asked if sending in a letter updating them on my stats this year and other information would be helpful and he said “yes”. I am writing a letter over break that talks about my interest in UofM, my current classes and activities and also addressing that one grade from last year. I am going to attach an additional letter from an alumni teacher, hope this all gets me in the door!

“^ Who wrote your letter? like was it the “Admissions Counselor” or someone totally different? I assume you have the third type of letter that we didn’t yet discuss”

yeah…can we discuss this, then? lol.
seriously -_-

“Yeah I got the one that CC had”
well, i guess that’s me, lol.

“^ Who wrote your letter?”
-Theodore L. Spencer-Associate Vice Provost and Executive Director

does that matter?

ALSO, it doesn’t explicitly ask for 7th semester grades…it just sort of implies that we should send them in to help enhance our application. but, if they’re only so-so, should we not send them in & just send in a resume, instead…? :</p>

I have the same letter as DylanH but mines was from a recuirtment coordinator, does that mean that my application was at least considered? Though then again I must say I attend a inner city public school.

I have a feeling that you have a better shot if your letter is from Theodore L. Spencer, as he’s the guy who “signed” the acceptance letters. Although maybe we could have people post their stats along with the type of letter they got so we can sort this thing out.

My letter is signed by Theodore Spencer.

As is mine…I’m pretty sure the different letters mean something, the “good” one as posted above being the “best” deferral while the others seem to be not as good

^ Yeah I agree…

@CronoTriggerfan
So the acceptance letters were signed by Theodore L. Spencer?!? Cool lol…I really hope that’s a good sign. I think I know why i got deferred, my ACT score most definitely

My GPA was a little low (3.65 UW now 3.72) but I had a very strong 7th semester straight A’s 4.27 and I’m hoping I get in

Your stats sound similar to mine. I had a 3.6 but now have a 3.7. My ACT was decent (29). Had one class that was an issue, last year. Have straight A’s this year with 3 AP’s. Current gpa for this year is 3.9.

My ACT is 31, how do you not have above a 4.0 with straight A’s and 3 APs

Got a B+ in Chem first Trimester but currently have all A’s, second trimester.

bump bump bump
