Good excuse for having a D ?

I am a second yr student. Got a B+ in my first yr and a B+ in my second . I have good grades but I got a D this semester in a course which important for my major. I am worried this might decrease my transfer chances to Univ Of Toronto. Making up an excuse would help ? What could a good excuse be?

Thank you ! Please try answer soon, I have to send my final grades in a few days ! :D

All I can think of is illness. But again, being honest is the most important thing! :)

Yeah, not to sound like a goody-goody, but honesty really is the way to go here.
If a class was ridiculously hard for you and you just had to take it to fill a requirement, let the admissions people know. If you got super-ambitious and signed up for a course you weren't prepared for, let them know.
I think we've all struggled through a course at some point in our lives. Not everyone is good at every subject. That doesn't mean you're not a qualified applicant and won't excel in the field you choose to study.

Do you need to make an excuse for it? Colleges you transfer to won't give you credit for it, if anything you'd have to retake it, either at your college or theirs.

Thank you for your responses! I am worried that bec of the D I will not get accepted and that is the reason for which I want to give an excuse or at least an explanation. The truth is that I took 5 courses this semester and I just couldn't handle the 5th one . It was also part 2 of a subject for which part 1 I took at a different college where we didnt study the subject in that much depth. It is one the of most important courses of my degree. I know I can do a good job with it , once I retake it. I just made a bad decision concentrating on the other 4 courses when actually this one was the most important one. What should I do? I need to send the transcript soon and I could attach a note....Any ideas?
Thank you!!

Why would anybody want to transfer to the University of Toronto (particularly if you're in any biology-related discipline with preprofessional ambitions)?

I study Computer Science and U of Toronto is one of the best !
