I am a senior and I am applying to some top schools come January such as Stanford, Northwestern, and Brown. I have pretty good grades, only gotten a few B's and hold a 3.9 gpa. I also have really strong ECs and got a 2100 on the SAT. I am really worried because I got my first C in AP Calculus AB first semester of senior year. Is this enough for them to not consider me for admittance even if I had a legitimate chance before that? I don't want all my hard work these last 3 years to go to waste all because of one C.

I don't see why they still wouldn't look at your applicaiton seriously. Although you have to keep in mind that top schools like this reject 4.0 students all the time.

AP Calculus is a tough class. i think they will understand a C, especially if you didn't indicate that you were math/tech oriented. if you were gonna major in engineering or something, then that would be a bit of a problem.

i know someone who got a C in AP Environmental the 2nd quarter of their senior year, and that's basically a fluff AP class, and they still got into a HYPSM school ED.
