for those internationals who get into MIT, congratulations on your incredible achievement...

GOOD LUCK!!!

(We're all going to need it ;))

14 days. (extra words extra wo-)

and now even lesser time ;)

Does anyone know how long UPS takes to get to Canada west coast? some said it's two business days. just wondering.

just to update. MIT international selection is over... they just have to finalize the list to make sure things are consistent... sigh.

omg - I am so nervous - cant do anything:) After rejection from Olin I am really scared now (although i didnt care about that one I care about mit :P)

well maybe tonight the final 100 would have been slelcted from the 300 already chosen from the 2200 or so of us!
Goodluck, hope by the next week this time, most of us know....

or maybe its already done, best of luck!

So, everything's decided. Oh, I hate waiting.

Hey cres, do you mean that only 300 internationals made it to the selection committee? Or are you saying that on the first day of selection, 300 were chosen out of the 2200, then on the second day, 100 were selected from the 300?

yeah i have the same question... and they released the numbers as 2200? most times it's only around 2000

Well, i was told by someone very reliable in fact perfectdark9, that the final two day selection was for the 300 intls in the shortlist, one you got in those three hundred you got a 1/3 chance....well it would have been nice if the rest 200 also got a letter saying you just missed it....lack of space at mIT ;)

oh.. darn.. wish i would know if i'm in the top 300 or not

That's harsh... and do you know how they selected the top 300? By their E-3 cards alone?

OK as far as I know, they drop about half of the applications as "not competitive" after an intial reading, and the other half they read twice and make an E-3 card.

I don't think they'd reduce the number to 300 in the first go.

BUT, Matt has said that in committee they usually end up selecting more than the required number of students, so they refine it iteratively until they have the required numbers. I think that's what cres/perfectdark9 are referring to.

Yeah exactly, thanks for the clarification, merc.

So Ben has clarified on matt's blog that the figure of 300 or somewhere close to that is indeed correct.

Aww, let's not think about it anymore. This makes the wait much more difficult.

In fact, let's not come on CC until we get our letters. CC makes me tense. :)

and all is now decided...

Sigh I think it's less painful to not go to committee, rather than get shortlisted and rejected after the big meeting.
