Good Minor for Econ Major?

What is a good minor for an Econ Major? (BA). Which ones are useful and a good fit? I plan to get my CFA and work in Finance eventually. Is a minor even worth it?

I’m not a big fan of minors but economics and statistics is a great match

Math or finance can be a good minor.

But if you are thinking about doing a CFA, mostly likely you want a Wall Street professional path. If so, try to have the following attributes and skills: (1) presentation and communication (including writing) skills, (2) Excel programming skills, and (3) sufficient demonstrated interest and exposure in banking and investing.

If you want to obtain your CFA, I would suggest major in Finance and minor in Economics. But if Economics is your true passion then a minor in anything would just be a waste of time. You learn so much more on the job than in the classroom. Just do what you enjoy and focus on getting the best grades. Minors in business majors/social sciences (economics) doesn’t do much since those majors are great by itself. You will find a great job in a firm regardless but @prof2dad Wall Street is definitely hard to get a position in. You would need very excellent connections or graduate from Ivy League’s school to obtain a position there.
