Good school for undergraduate International Relations?

Hi.. this is my first time here. I am from South Korea and I'd love to study International Relations in United States. Could you name me some good school for International Relations that I have chance to get it?

GPA: 3.8 (class ranking 10 of 78)
SAT: 1220 (710 in math 510 in Verbal)

Vice president of Internation Club
Computer Club
had 3 jobs (salesman, waiter)
Martial Arts
attended Presidential Classroom
Church activities
fluent in Korean and English

and I live in VA so i prefer Virginia School

Thanks for da help!

George Washington, Georgetown, American in D.C are all good for int relations

oh i forgot to mention

I prefer State/Public University because it's cheap

i really don't have money to go to expensive private colleges

If you prefer public university with SAT 1220 (710 in math 510 in Verbal),
two school for you, James Madison or George Mason University.

y2kcom,

Don't rule out privates. What you see on the site as the "sticker price" may not be the "actual price." Many privates are VERY generous with need-based aid, and there's a good chance that with your stats you could get a fair aid package to one of the schools in DC.

Definitely consider America, GWU, and GTown. If you enjoy IR, they're great options.

Also, University of Mary Washington is good Public school for you.

try University of Virginia, it's ranked #1 in public schools in the nation and it's got a good IR school.

no its not
virginia is second best to berkeley

sorry man
read the rankings

In NoVA/DC/MD, Gtown & JHU are two top dogs.

Rabban,

JHU's undergrad offerings in IR are a bit strange. One can study IR through the poli sci department, but as far as really tapping into JHU's IR claim to fame (SAIS), one is pretty much limited to the BA/MA program, which is not guaranteed.

Good program, but it's hard to say that JHU's undergrad IR is necessarily the same as SAIS.

Oh, Okay. I know you are an expert on this. I'll take your recommendation. Yeah, I admit I was thinking JHU IR and SAIS are "toi toi" :)

With SAT1220 -710 M & "510V" for International Relations at Gtown & JHU or University of Virginia?

Thanx for da help ~ i think i will apply to these colleges

UVA
William and Mary
JMU
GMU

i don' t think i have much chance for UVA and William and Mary but who knows? they might like my essays and application

y2kcom,

Just out of curiosity, why rule out all the DC schools?

WM has an extremely strong ugrad international relations department. better than UVA's. Its public too so that's good. Might be a bit of a reach for you though.

I hear Tufts is pretty decent. But given the OP's stats, GT and Tufts are probably a little out of reach.

Gourman rankings for undergraduate International Relations:

Tufts
Princeton
Johns Hopkins
Georgetown
U Penn
Harvard
Cornell
U Wisconsin Madison
MIT
Stanford
UVA
Notre Dame
US Air Force Acad
US Military Acad
Claremont McKenna

I rule all the DC schools out cuz they are just so expensive...

I might get into GWU but it's so damn expensive~!

y2kcom,

Again, don't look at sticker price. Consider the fact that many privates will offer good financial aid packages as needed.

UCLAri, GW is not known for its generosity. Of course, I agree that the OP should apply. But GW is quite possibly one of the worst values among the better universities.
