Google BOLD Internship 2014

Been lurking on this thread for a while.

Interviewed in January for Marketing. Also spoke to an MBA at my university this week, who said that many of his MBA friends who interviewed for the summer also haven’t heard back.

I’ve also spoken to a contact at Google, who said that they are historically slow in HR.

got an offer today for the marketing team. they sent an invite to a google group with the other people who had received internship offers. if you haven’t heard back from HR by tomorrow, you probs didn’t get it.

Yeah…I don’t believe the above. Keep waiting, if you did not get a rejection email you are still definitely in the running.

keep telling yourself that. i got invited to interview at the start of january and did the interviews more than a month ago. they had just been waiting for the internship committee to give the final confirmation for interns for a few weeks now, and the process got pushed back a ton. i only got the offer letter a few hours ago, but my recruiter asked for my transcript weeks ago. you didn’t get it, dude.

@blazeit69 look at your name. You are an unreliable source. If you look at the past post form previous years the offers went out all the way until may. Additionally, i have a friend who did bold last year and he was initially contacted in march. Lastly, if you really got it then provide some kind of proof on here.

@blazeit69 How does you receiving an offer equal there being no more offers available? People have been getting offers for months and will continue to do so just like they have every year BOLD has been running.

I have to agree with EconBerk211, you definitely don’t seem smart enough to get any kind of offer from Google and are in no way a credible source.

@blazeit69

No need to be rude and snarky… Even if you did get an offer, please do so with grace. Applied for Marketing as well and I’d hate to be on your team if I do get an offer in the end…

Good riddance.

Hey everyone. I’ve been following this thread for a while, but I really wanted to post.

I applied for pqo, development, and, marketing. I got an e-mail 2 weeks ago saying I would be best for marketing and asking when I can interview.

I had my interview about 1.5 weeks ago. I thought my first interview went ok ( technical difficulties, and perhaps I was too vague? ) but I thought the second interview went really well. I have yet to hear anything ( 2 Fridays have past, which I have heard is the day when calls are made) and I’m quite worried. From those of you who have gotten an offer, did you feel confident after both conversations? I truly feel I am a good fit and my experience is well aligned but I cannot help but feel unnerved. What was the wait time like for those who have received and offer? And in marketing specifically? Is there anything else you can recommend?

Thanks

Hey @rebsteiy,

I got an offer for people operations yesterday afternoon and had a similar experience to you… I had technical difficulties during the first interview (it ended up being about 10 min long) but I thought that the second interview went really well. It took them over 3 weeks to get back to me, so I don’t think it means anything that you haven’t heard back yet!

Hey @rebsteiy,

It is normal to feel concerned after having a grand interview with Google. You should be proud of that and just got trust the process. I accepted an offer from Google for their SMB Sales team in Ann Harbor this past month. I waited two weeks to hear a response given I had a competing offer and contacted my recruiter for an update. To be honest, I was extremely nervous during that waiting time because my interview was rescheduled three times due to technical difficulties and study abroad made it more difficult haha. The interviews were challenging and really pushed me to think critically about the situations at hand. Fortunately, my interviewers were awesome and were willing to answer any clarifying questions during the interview.

If it has been two weeks, I recommend that you follow-up with your recruiter to receive an update on your application.

Hope this helps!

@tscali11 can you tell us what interview questions were asked for the people operations team ?

Hi @rebsteiy,

I got an offer from the Marketing team in January and I was also worried about one of my interviews. I definitely felt that my second interview went a lot better than the first, and that made waiting for a response very nerve-racking. I also experienced technical difficulties and had to answer some challenging questions. But I would say dont lose hope! Give it another week and then maybe contact your recruiter for an update. I wish you the best of luck!

Hopefully they will send out some status updates tomorrow on Monday.

Thanks guys for all of your encouraging words! Also, am I right for thinking they only make calls on Fridays as I have heard from my peers? Or did any of you receive an offer on a different day? I would love to work with you guys! I hope it happens…

Thanks again!

Anyone hear anything from Finance?

@RedWhispers. I’ve been waiting for finance as well. I don’t believe anyone
on the board has stated they received a finance interview or an offer.

Hiya everyone,

Came across this thread ~5 mins ago and have been reading like a crazy person since! I’d like to weigh in as well.

I applied super late (last day I think) and interview for People Ops late Jan. Interestingly enough, I too had video difficulties the first interview, it lasted the full 30+ mins though. Perhaps it’s deliberate? Who knows.

I’m currently studying abroad and they did a great job accommodating the time difference. My recruiter emailed me early Feb letting me know he/she’d have an update at the end of the week. That date passed and nothing  Because the semester system works differently in Italy, I am in need of choosing classes in which the professor will let me take the exam early so that I can return to the US on time (should I be lucky enough to be offered a position).

Upon informing my recruiter of this request, I have received no reply. I’m not insubstantially nervous and would love to hear what you guys think. I imagine that another email is yet unwarranted but I’m kind of in limbo as far as concretizing classes abroad until I find out.

Pardon my long-winded essay haha hope to hear from one of you (all of you!) soon! And a huge congrats to everyone offered a position :)

Hi Ergaomnes,

Congrats on getting an interview. If your recruiter is not responding to you and it’s been a significant amount of time I would try to contact the program directly to inform them of your deadline.

I’m curious, are you doing just a semester abroad or your whole degree?

Anyone hear anything new?

Still haven’t heard back from a recruiter. Not sure if I should ping them for an update or not.

I haven’t heard back either. I know that no news is suppose to be good news and they contacted people up through April last year but I’m getting a little nervous now. I applied for operations, analytics, and flexible.
