Google Bold Internship

Sometimes you can’t wait… good people have other offers

@ serious - very true.

Is it safe to assume, for those who haven’t received any emails this past week regarding a phone interview, that we were rejected? Is it for certain that we will receive a rejection email though?

Seems like this past week was the week for potential interns to get the opportunity for an interview. (Congrats! btw) Don’t know why they would wait another week to email those out again this week, since the phone interviews start on the 31st?..

I wish there was at least some sort of indication of a “yes” or “no” from Google. Keeps me wondering and if there is hope. Good luck to all!

You know what I was thinking the same thing skyhumanity but I’m not sure either, I guess we can only hope for the best and maybe some there will be offers for interviews this week!! Fingers crossed:)

If the cutoff date really is 2/21, they might have two interview periods. Two half-hour phone interviews for every candidate they invite out of 3,400 is a lot to do in under two weeks, even for Google. I don’t pretend to know what they’re up to with staggering these emails, but it seems silly that they would wait to send out the remaining rejections. I imagine they’ll send all the remaining applicants rejections simultaneously after they’ve exhausted all the interview invitations.

But really, all bets are off. We are best to wait patiently.

From an email sent to me Jan 13th

“We will be contacting
students selected for interviews over the next month or so, and will be
notifying all students of their status by mid-February.”

Don’t lose hope.
Plus, NONE of us getting an interview would not really make sense. There are really only maybe one or two credible people in this thread that were extended an interview offer.

To address the whole “hire someone without an interview” IT IS ABSOLUTELY FALSE. Google needs to make sure you fit into the culture, something that really can only be done in person. A resume would not denote whether or not you are a true googler. Furthermore, every single company interviews someone before they extend an offer. In Investment Banking, places like Goldman Sachs get 4.0’s from Harvard all the time, yet they still put them through an incredibly rigorous interview process against all other applicants. Offers most likely have not been extended yet, so please don’t lose faith!

We will probably here back this week.

Okay thanks a lot for the encouragement woodendynomite!!! I got that e-mail from them as well when I e-mailed them about my app. status a week ago.

Lets still try to keep some hope:) Thanks!

Hey guys

My feeling is that they are kind of doing it department by department. The interviews you get are with a specific department at google (mine is direct sales), so that may explain the discrepancy in when everyone is hearing back. For instance, maybe the finance department hasn’t notified people yet.

Again, I know that they are notifying people either way so if you haven’t heard yet that doesn’t mean you were rejected.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been lurking on this forum topic for a while now and I just thought I’d add in my two cents. I got chosen to interview for the “Enterprise Sales” team and I just got the email today. My email says that they are conducting phone interviews from 2/1 - 2/11. So to those of you who have yet to receive an email from them don’t lose hope!!!

Stats: University of Illinois, Statistics major w/ pre-med concentration, 3.68 GPA, decent amount of ECs, one leadership position, a ton of different office jobs in the past few years

If you guys are wondering what they will be looking for when they interview you by phone then read this snippet from my email:

"In preparation for your interview:

* Familiarize yourself with Google’s products - visit More Google Products - and applications

 • Understand Google’s business and revenue model
 • Research our competitors"

Hey guys just got my rejection e-mail today! No worries though I’m going to apply to the Freshman one in March.

Best of luck to the remaining applicants:)

Oh nice, thanks for posting that idiosyncracy  is 2/1 - 2/11 just for sales or for all interviews in general?

Best of luck ammara :)

Just got an e-mail to interview for the Finance division! Interviews start this week and go through the 18th.
Does anyone know how flexible Google is about switching divisions? I had some finance experience on my resume but not sure that that’s the division I actually want to be in at Google…

Hey gymkid121! Congrats on getting an interview! Fill us in on what experience you have and stats.

I’m still waiting for an email–I haven’t gotten anything. I don’t care which department I just want an interview!

:)

3.68 at HYP, interned last summer at JP Morgan, leadership roles on campus

Congrats gymkid - where would you prefer to go? It’s probably worth asking

did anyone hear anything from Dedicated Client Services?

Does anyone have a list of all the divisions available to intern in? I have a partial list from the website and the divisions people have mentioned here:

Finance
People Ops (HR)
Marketing
Direct Sales
Dedicated Client Services

Can anyone add to this?

I believe the Public Policy department has interns…

Hey, I just joined and happened upon this thread. I applied for the Canadian internship in the Toronto office. Just wondering, have any Canadian applicants heard back yet?

One person heard back out of everyone we’ve had on this thread so far. Refer to Page 12. I haven’t hear anything and I also applied to the Toronto office.
