Got into SD...but LA is where i want to go, and thats what worries me...

i have around a 3.20 gpa, and my counselor told me that UCSD from my CC is pretty much guaranteed with any GPA over 2.9, and i did get in, but UCLA and possibly USC is where i really want to transfer...anybody have any success stories of people around my GPA with a major of biology? i need some light at the end of the tunnel!

Godd luck to you David. I have a friend, who was transfer from CC, had a GPA of 3.3, went to USC. However, her major was in accounting.

haha i was so glad i got into san diego and now i hear its a cakewalk.

had a friend get in with a 3.1, non-impacted major.
I think if you are applying for an IMPACTED major I’d feel very uneasy about my chances, unless you have those three magical letters everyone loves,

T A P.

@hotelmoscow:

San Diego a cakewalk? What do you mean by that.

What he means by cakewalk is probably referring to the criteria i provided, as it is rather easy to make UCSD from my CC(glendale community college), practically having a 2.9 or above guarantees you into UCSD, which in a sense, is a cakewalk.

over 65% Transfer Admit Rate = Cakewalk.

i just meant its ridiculously easy. i mean irvine is 70 percent, san diego is 65 and then it drops to like less than 25 for berkeley and la.

No actually LA has a transfer admission rate that closes in near 50%

i feel u davidAdkins. 3.38 TAP global studies here. still waiting on LA n Berk

ah fanfan, at least you have TAP!!! i didnt even know anything about it until it was way too late!

my hind is doomed!

whoa ucla is 50?

haha if you’re correct that makes me really hopeful and ****ed at the same time.

good luck to us all! cross finger

2007 stats for UCLA

10,963- total applied

4,665 -admitted

42.55% - admit rate %

87.52% - percent of all admits (including freshman & graduates i think)

3.36 - avg gpa rejected

3.57 - avg gpa accepted

so yes 43 percent does kind of close in on 50%, I was slightly misleading : ).

oh right i forgot to mention. my major is impacted to la so im still screwed haha

AH! I’m a 3.56! Does anyone else have no idea where they want to go if they get rejected from LA?

I’m going to ucsd if I get rejected from LA and Berk. It would be a blessing in disguise since I already know 50+ people there and my 2 of my best friends will room over there with me if I choose to go there. So getting rejected from LA is a blessing in disguise for me, I hope to really grow as a person and learn mature much more in college, not just get the best possible name for myself. I’m actually a really nice person outside of this blunt ■■■■■■ e-persona.

What’s your major?

I kind of feel that way too–I’d go to Berkeley if I got in, of course, but LA I’m almost hoping I don’t get accepted.

same here. if berkeley and la reject me then im going to san diego. roomings going to be a bit of a jiffy though; i only have one friends whos going to be a junior at sd haha.

still california’s school system is great for lazy people like me.

i applied as an english major for sd, linguistics + english for LA, with Tap and a pretty decent gpa (3.4 ish) I really think I’ll probably get in -.-. Going to La I’d would enable me to come back to my church every weekend since it’s relatively close. Ah the pros and cons don’t really out-weigh one another with between LA and Sd.
