I just submitted my application today. My counselor made a big deal about how GS is such an honor, so prestigious, lalala. I was wondering if that was true. Will this really help me out when I start applying to college next year? (Provided that I get into GS)

okay, I guess not

that's what our school's gov school coordinator lady said..

When was your submission deadline? Here in NJ, we should be finding out soon the ultimate decision.

yep im in nj too..i think the paper said march 29 is final decision or something

ps...are you mansfield in warren county? or is there another mansfield

I am, indeed, in Mansfield in Warren County. Why?

Just curious, what high school do you attend?

Governor's School will look good on your transcript.

Sittingbull, I go to Warren Hills. Where do you go?

I went to a Governor's School in Tennessee, and although it will certainly look great on a resume or application (they aren't put on transcripts here, Mountain Dew...I'd be interested to see what your school's look like if they include stuff like that), the experience was life-changing in itself. Plus, and I'm not sure if other states do this, I got 6 hours of college credit for free!

I don't get any credit for it-- I applied yesterday.

Aww, too bad that you don't get credit. The good thing about that though is that, if you get to go, you can enjoy your time there and not have to worry about tests and grades and such. Last year was the first year my state offered credit, and they didn't offer it at every Governor's School...I just so happened to apply to one that did.

I am getting 6 hours of credit this summer at a CommCollege in town, though.

There's more than one governor's school in Tennessee?

Hey I applied to a the NJ Sciences Governor's school from Monmouth county... where did you all apply to?

Yeah, I'm not sure how many Governor's Schools there are though...probably 7 or 8. They are all at different colleges around the state, and cover different topics. I went to the one for Tennessee Heritage at East TN State University.

We only have one, and it pretty much covers everything.

I applied to NJ's International Studies Gov. School. Did anyone else? And Sittingbull, where do you go, and how do you know about Mansfield?

ooo---i go to p'burg it's pretty close, ive been there before is all..i applied to the science one

Yes, I know Phillipsburg. Your school is in my Key Club division.

I'm from NJ, as well. I applied and awaiting the decision for Public Issues (Anyone else apply to this school?! I've seen a handful of science schools and tons of Int'l applicants. None for Public Issues, though!). Anyone know when NJ kids should be getting the decision?
