GPA Confusion

I'm a bit confused about some GPA/admissions specifics. I'd appreciate any clarifications!

*On my school's transcript, my final GPA for each year (9th gr., etc.) is shown. There is also a cumulative GPA that factors in all my grades from 9th-11th grade. Which will colleges look at? (reason I'm asking: freshman and sophomore yrs, my GPA was around a 4.0W; junior year, it was about a 4.2W. However, my cumulative is a 4.0. 4.0 vs 4.2 is quite a bit different!)

*If a student applies EA, will the GPA that he submits then (grades through junior yr) be used for scholarship purposes, or, when he sends in his senior 1st semester grades, will those be factored into the scholarship GPA as well?

They will consider both your overall GPA and the trend in your grades.

It depends on the scholarship and when they evaluate candidates. If they are reviewing after the New Year, they might include your mid-year grades.
