Prompt: Is there always another explanation or another point of view?

Although it would be convenient for one viewpoint to be correct all the time, there are always a multitude of ideas on a given subject, resulting in differing viewpoints. Evidence that supports this idea comes from my own personal experience.
One day in health class, we watched a movie about how the media's portrayal of women negatively affects girls. Many girls, from ages 12-18, were interviewed and the overall consensus was that these girls were under a great deal of pressure to look like the women they saw on TV. all the time.
At the time, I agreed with this idea that the media pressures young girls and lowers their self-esteem. I still agree with this idea; however, the movie also talked about models, and how they are bad influences. In specific, a woman came on the screen and claimed that women should never be as skinny as models. She furthermore made the assertion that being skinny is not beautiful--that no one, "wants to sleep with a skeleton." I was personally offended by this statement. I am a healthy, but rather petite girl. I exercise and eat healthy and am comfortable with my body. Upon hearing this statement, I couldn't help but feel this woman had completely failed to realize the perspective of someone like me! I agree that the media often negatively affects girls' confidence, but there is no need to speak ill of skinny girls (unconsciously or otherwise).
Whether you are an opinionated person or not, everyone has viewpoints. These viewpoints are never going to be the same from person to person, and it is important to accept the fact that there is no one "correct" viewpoint.
