Graduate School

Hellooooo

So I'm gearing up to start applying for graduate school. I haven't taken the GRE yet, but I am not sure what sort of score to be shooting for. I can prepare for the test and probably do reasonably well depending on the amount of preparation, so I have a few questions about preliminary chances and things based upon a reasonably good score.

I am currently a junior at MIT with a GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale (MIT does 5.0 scale l0l.. so it hurts to convert it ).

I am pretty sure I can get good recs, and I've been busy with extracurriculars and jobs, and I can crank out a pretty good essay, so I'm not too worried here.

I would be applying to the UT-Austin Electrical Engineering Masters program.

The GPA is a bit low... but I was hoping that the MIT deflation factor and other things might help me out.

Plus I really like UT-Austin and Texas.

Thanks for any help/advice!

I had a friend who got into UT engineering with a 3.3, and he went to UT for undergrad. It's not impossible with a low GPA.

You should probably look on the graduate school section of the board for more info about grad school chances. There are lots of people there that have been through the process. Good luck!
