Guys: Are you embarrassed to call the escort night service at your school?

My school (in an attempt to save money) replaced all night buses with extra escort vans this year.

Are there any guys here that use their school's escort service? I'm probably gonna walk everywhere but I'm just wondering haha

Woah at first I thought your school had its own prostitution service…

Anyway about your real question, ya I am, never used it.

It takes more of a man to call that escort service in situations you actually need, and not be an idiot foolishly risking your safety for literally no benefit, than the person with no self-confidence who wants to try to feel macho by not calling the escort service.

LOL I thought you were talking about some prostitution service too at first. Yeah do not be stupid, especially if the area is not a good neighborhood.

Oftentimes it would take less time for me to walk than take the escort vans, so I’ll walk, but I have no problem calling a van to pick me up. For longer rides, you will see more guys taking the vans than you would for a short ride. This year, my school decided to cancel weekend bus service and use escort vans instead, so guys will be calling the vans more often.

HAHAHAHA yeah i didn’t know what to call it but it does sound like a prostitution reference

If it was really late at night I wouldn’t be embarrassed. There’s a lot of riff-raff in the county my school’s in, and near the city my school’s in.

I called Stingerette, Georgia Tech’s evening shuttle service, a few times when I was finishing a late (after 10:00 PM) meeting at the College of Management, which is located about fifteen minutes away from the West Campus apartments. It’s a fairly safe walk regardless, but I was not embarrassed to call the number.

At some schools the escort service is for females only.

I’m too lazy to walk and I don’t care what a bus driver thinks of me, so I use the escort service every night.

I would if I was too drunk to walk back without getting busted.

I, too, had a more interesting impression when I read the thread title.

Well I took the escort service like 2-3 times, but it was only when I was kinda injured (those were a couple occasions where I got pretty bad leg cramps after working out and I couldn’t walk). The gym was a good 10-15 minute walk away from my dorm, so I had to get an escort since I wasn’t able to walk more than like a hundred feet.

Besides that though, I never used the escort for safety reasons, mainly because my campus is in a safe area. But if your campus isn’t in a safe area, then there’s nothing wrong with using the escort service.

" It takes more of a man to call that escort service in situations you actually need, and not be an idiot foolishly risking your safety for literally no benefit, than the person with no self-confidence who wants to try to feel macho by not calling the escort service. "

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I always worry about my fiance walking back to the bus stop alone at night. Last year there was a kid who had a bunch of guys pull up next to him in a car, demand his backpack, and they beat him over the head with a bat. Right on a busy road, right next to a dorm building. That is going to hurt you no matter how strong you think you are. My fiance grew up in a fairly dangerous area, so any time he is not there he insists he’s safe and acts like a moron and it makes me CRAZY!

Hahahaha, how misleading.

LMAO. I was about to transfer to this school!

HAHA again I apologize for the misleading thread title

thanks for the responses though! good to know what people actually think

Yeah, if it’s really late and I’m crazy tired, I’m def calling the school cabby

We have someone whom you can call and they’ll walk you back to your dorm. I’m not waiting the extra 20 minutes just to walk.

On the other hand, we have a van service that stops at pertinent spots on campus from 5pm - 5am every day. They’re a wonderful institution, especially for drunks. And they have their own music video

Wow, what a bait-and-switch with the thread title and actual post! XD

Anyways, I think they are largely underutilized services mainly because most people just walk to get around. It’s easier and faster. But there is no problem calling one up if you are injured/too tired to walk/too drunk to get home safely/near a bus already and need to get somewhere far away quickly/etc. I’d have no problem calling one, but I’ve just never had the need to.
