I’m so sorry - it must be very upsetting. Perhaps your GC could call and find out if its reversible. I hope so!
He’s not here today but I will be talking to him tomorrow - I’m still in shock. And to do this in the middle of a school day was just mean.
Thats so unfortunate. At least they didnt recoke your admission to gw though. I hope they let you appeal and enroll in elliot despite their mistake
Me too
Just when I get a win after so many rejections it gets taken away
Now I’ve been rejected from all my top choices
I’m not sure why this happened to you, but I’m sorry it did. I hope it can be fixed.
@Kd6410 i got rejected from smpa and i begged my admissions rep and he said a spot will probably open up in april so if i stay in touch i could probably start in my desired school. Maybe see if you can work something out as they find out how many kids are declining their offer
@shafthalf @Happy4u I emailed my rep and apparently that was a mistake also and I actually did get into Elliot. That was an emotional rollercoaster
Jeez - one would think before they anyone an email like that, they would be certain it was correct. That was a needless emotional rollercoaster. I’m glad it worked out for you, but sad for whoever else got it (or is going to get it).
wow i am so sorry you had to go through that…
I got waitlisted! If any of you know for sure that you aren’t going to gw please help a kid out here congrats to all who got accepted! does anyone know if there is still hope for a waitlisted kid? How can one get themselves off the waitlist
@jyp2pm1 If GW is your first choice tell them that! Say that you’re honored to be on the waitlist because that means they thought you could make it at GW. And that if taken off the waitlist you would 100% attend. Something like that - if you don’t need FA say that (I will attend regardless of financial aid)
D got into GW with a Presidential scholarship of $25k/year. Happy n proud of D’s achievement. However, the $ award as good as it is cannot compete with instate tuition which also included merit awards. Hence, she will most likely have to say no to GW for undergrad and keep them in mind for Med School.
Son just got accepted to Cornell for Info Science, after getting waitlisted at GW!!!
How weird is this!!
He is declining the waitlist.
@Kd6410 It is super easy to transfer schools once you are at GW, so don’t worry about that. To stay on track with Elliott coursework, just sign up for courses that Elliott students normally take their first semester i.e. language course, economics, etc. This is the internal transfer form: https://registrar.gwu.edu/sites/g/files/zaxdzs2171/f/downloads/internal_transfer.pdf
Basically, to transfer to Elliott, you need to:
-Complete 24 semester hours in residence at GW with a minimum GPA of 3.0
-Complete four of the five courses: ECON 1011, ECON 1012, HIST 1011, PSC 1001, and PSC 1003 (in lieu of IAFF 1005)
-Complete the first year of a modern foreign language by coursework or submit documentation showing score from language placement exam that would place them beyond the first year of a foreign language
Is there a facebook group for accepted students?
@drdesi9 yep but it’s down for some reason
accepted to elliot for international affairs w/ 24k presidential scholarship & great financial aid!!!

Waitlisted (anyone who knows they aren’t going, please tell the school asap). Disappointing as I was also waitlisted at my other top choice, NYU.
3.8 UW/4.5 W GPA. 32 ACT. Good extracurriculars (state debate champion, youth in gov., band, etc.) and good essay.
Accepted: BU, McGill, U Toronto, Fordham, UMN
Waitlist: GW, NYU, Wellesley
Denied: Brown, Middlebury, Wash U
Waiting on Tufts, Georgetown, and American (out of the country so I haven’t gotten the letter)
I was admitted with 30K /yr scholarship and no other financial aid. Still far from enough money for me to be able to attend (and it’s more or less my number 1). How is GW with financial aid appeals? Is it worth the effort if I would need another ~20K in order to be able to afford it?
Our wait listed daughter will be turning down the wait list offer to most likely study physics or engineering at the University of Maryland (in state). Hopefully, this moves some of you up on the list who really want to go to GW.
