GW 2022 RD

@billybobby54 I was accepted ed 2 and the packet comes with a poster, your acceptance letter, and a brochure with your “next steps.” A financial packet comes separately as well

@Kd6410 Yes - ADS. We were beyond thrilled!

Congrats to everyone admitted! I just made a CC profile for this sole reason-- I need some feedback because I’m torn between UMich and GW Elliott. I’m still waiting to hear back from UMich Honors for LSA (basically the college of arts and sciences) and I’d be studying political science there (and am interested in applying to the Ford School of Public Policy), but i’d be studying international relations at GW Elliott. GW offerred me 18k scholarship per year. help!!!

Freshman are not automatically in SMPA as they have to apply to do so after being on-campus for at least once year. SMPA is a subset of Columbian.

@DavidHopkins Thank you. It’s a shame because GW was actually my top choice. I thought I would be waitlisted too haha.

@croaswife Congrats! I was also there for one of the ADS weekends (but I didn’t win anything)

@MoSwimmer66 Multiple statements of yours are absolutely ridiculous.

“Off campus housing which you will likely be forced into by junior year if not sooner will run you $2500 a month if you can find it.”

All students are required to live on-campus for three years. Most students want to live off-campus, by choice, during their senior year, but anyone who wants to have on-campus housing their senior year basically all get it.

“You will be crushed with debt unless your parents or some other relatives are paying for it.”

I am paying for GW by myself and I will not be “crushed by debt” by the time I graduate.

“The only thing GWU is actually known for is Engineering, but UVA Engineering is superior anyway.”
What? GW just built a new $300 million engineering and science school a few years ago, so they are trying to increase their STEM prestige, but GW is by far known for their Political Science and International Relations programs.

@shafthalf No one is automatically in SMPA. You have to apply to SMPA once you have been at GW for at least one year.

I believe my son’s acceptance letter told him he was accepted into SMPA. He was actually going for Elliott but is very happy with this.

@memequeen420 decide if youll be attending grad school and how affordable gw is relative to umich. If you cant cover the difference or plan to get a masters, gw might not be worth it

what are the chances of being taken off the waitlist?

@kd6410 thank you. Sorry ADS didn’t also work out in your favor.

@shafthalf I plan on going to grad/law school. I am also OOS for UMich-- with the scholarship GW gave me, it makes GW only slightly cheaper than UMich would be for me (about 55k vs like 62k including room & board)

How long did it take the ED/ED II people to get the packet in the mail? I’m super excited!

@memequeen420 ok, probably think about how youd like life in the heart of dc. It’s definitely got its own vibe, also wthink about your preference for IR or poli sci

Oh my god my Elliot acceptance was wrong - I got an email about it. I’m in tears.

@Kd6410 WHAT

@shafthalf

Dear XX,

Congratulations on your admission to the George Washington University! It is a tremendous accomplishment and something for which you should be proud.

Yesterday we noticed an issue with our student portal wherein some students were being shown the incorrect final school. This issue was only present for a small number of students, and unfortunately, you were among those affected. We have resolved this issue as of this morning.

Your admission to GW remains intact, and your admission letter in the portal now lists the correct school. Please let us know if we can answer any questions as you make your college selection in the coming weeks.

Sincerely,

Costas Solomou, Ed.D.

Dean of Admissions

What college does it say you are admitted to now?
