It is pretty common for people to apply to all three of the big dc schools since everyone loves DC so much Thankfully American’s enrollment deposit deadline isn’t until June or July or something…

@Salahbb

I don’t think any sort of apology is in order. You applied to their school, they gave you the window, until June 1. Be patient. You dont have to turn any school down. For GU, request an early decision, theyll surely give one out now. You can also request an extension from other schools, I hope this helps.

I guess I have to agree with you, I just paid a deposit to American University SIS, because I was just scared to not have a university for the Fall, and I also dont want to end up at Mason. I going to play safe at this point with a finger crosses !!

Yea, I got waitlisted at Georgetown so I’m doing all I can to get off the list there!! I think my letter and grades are pretty convincing . I’m anxious about GWU decisions though, I only applied to these two schools. Anyone think the May 19th date will be promising tomorrow? haha

@Salahbb - You didn’t have to pay a deposit so soon. Multiple admissions reps and my advisor told me the deposit deadline isn’t until sometime in June/July for transfers.

I hope that we hear tomorrow… fingers crossed everybody

So, the GWU application status check site is temporally down for maintenance. I cant access it. I hope this is where the decisions are going out.

ShaunMartin that is a fantastic thought! Damn! Now I’m all excited again! I am going to keep checking every 3 minutes till its no longer down… :)

As for other schools applied to, I recently applied to American. Their deadline wasn’t till July 1st, and I hadn’t planned on applying unlessl GWU denied me…but since its taken so long I thought the sooner the better.

I am also applying for Georgetown’s School of Continuing Studies. Although the degree options are limited, they offer an Individualized Study program. The evening/weekend classes will allow me to work too. Plus-added bonus- the SCS is fully covered by the YRP - the other schools aren’t. Deadline for SCS isn’t till August, but they review applications on a rolling basis so you can apply anytime!

Anyone have a suggestion on Georgetown SCS vs American if GWU doesn’t work out? I know Georgetown is generally considered a fantastic school - but do you think that would outweigh going into a 2nd choice degree program since my 1st isn’t offered?

oy…just checked the activity center…it works…and nothing new posted sigh

I was just reading on the waitlist threads to see if anyone was notified - which might indicate our decisions were on the way too- only to find they were studying our thread to see if WE had been notified for the same reason! Now I actually feel a little bad bragging and getting excited about how few freshman were admitted this year compared to last…only a little though.

Good luck to everyone! May GWU make good decisions for us all!

ahh - sorry - totally bombarding you all with posts!

Freshman waitlist notifications are heading out - someone on the waitlist thread posted they received notification today by email.

So maybe that means…expect an email first to check the activity center once notifications begin for transfers…?

hey guys, I’m also a transfer student, I go to Merrimack College in Mass. I called GW today and they told me that the decisions are going out in the next few weeks. Kind of a bummer if you ask me.

I do have a question and I was wondering if someone could help me out. I was accepted to Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. I’m stuck between there and GWU to study politics. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Another few weeks .! I will give them till June 1st before I start getting persistent.

I still maintain that the admissions office is just attempting to stave off more phone calls. I called yesterday morning too and got an automatic response of “within the next two weeks” I can’t imagine it will be a *few *weeks more, especially with American and Georgetown sending out notifications now. GWU has to realize they will lose extremely qualified applicants to other schools because deposit deadlines and financial aid decisions are already out elsewhere. Even if we received notifications within the next week, when would anyone get financial aid information? How can you choose a school without having the whole picture?

@kitnkat03 - I got my AU tranfer aceptance in March. I’ve been waiting this whole time to hear from GWU so I can compare them evenly. Thankfully AU doesn’t have a deposit deadline for a while longer but still…

Good news everyone!!! I pulled one of my ace cards and spoke to someone very senior in the admissions department. Lets just say that this person is part of the decision making process. This person informed me that Fall 2010 transfer decisions will be going out at the end of this week or the beginning of next week. If any of you havent heard by the end of next week, call them.

You told them you were a vet didn’t you? THANK YOU!!

Butterflies all over again now…

No, actually this is someone that I contacted over a year ago and decided to reestablish contact with him. I have a few other ace cards as well. : )

@ShaunMartin - You sir are a gentleman and a scholar and I shall buy you a round of the finest beer at the Froggy Bottom lol.

Indeed! Good show! A second round will most assuredly be in order- count me in so long as GW does!

Ugh, I totally should have looked into this earlier but does anyone know if an application was needed for the Phi Theta Kappa scholarship? I looked around online a few months ago but never found anything…and forgot about it until now! Do they automatically consider you if you mention in your application that you’re a PTK member?
