@peacelovensarah - “Members of Phi Theta Kappa who apply to GW are considered for academic scholarships of $7,500 ($15,000 for two years). To qualify for consideration, the applicant must present proof of membership in Phi Theta Kappa, and have at least 56 semester hours of transferable credit with a cumulative grade point average of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.”

I submitted a copy of my ptk certificate as well as a letter of endorsement from my ptk chapter faculty advisor.

Thanks for the info, Kulakai. I will probably call them and see if I can fax over my PTK certificate or something. GWU is way too expensive for me, I’d need a PTK scholarship to attend. Do they give any other merit scholarships to transfers?

I finally got the nerve to see if anyone got accepted as a transfer student and came across this forum. Sorry to say this, but I’m glad I’m not the only one checking their email and access center every 20min or so. I’m a marine and getting into politics has been my dream. Thanks for all the posts and the info you all have given me.

@DBmarine - Welcome! It seems when they render a decision they’ll generate an email letting you know the decision is online while a packet is in the mail. With that I figure there is really no point in manually checking as you’ll just receive an email notification when it occurs.

Finally - an open source confirmation of ShaunMartin’s ‘ace card’ timeline:
GW Undergraduate Admissions: Transfer notification should be next week. All transfer applicants will receive an email with directions on how to access decisions and when exactly decisions will go live. The wait is almost over!

This was posted on the GW Undergraduate Admissions facebook page :D

This is a direct link to the page, but to get there again just click the Discussions tab on the GW Undergraduate Admissions main facebook page…that’s the ‘Jabberin’ tab for all you English:Pirate facebookers! :)

If you haven’t tried Pirate English on your facebook page, its a blast!

Go to your profile page and scroll all the way to the bottom. In the bottom left corner in small blue letters, click “English,” or whatever language you are currently viewing your facebook pages in. When the language selection appears, click “English:Pirate.” Then watch what happens… you saucy wenches! hehe…

The wait is almost over!! Hopefully it’ll be early this week. I got into UNC-CH and will be driving from NY to visit on Tuesday. I’ll stop in DC if I’m admitted to GWU!

So here’s a question- I know the majority of us are applying to GWU, GU, and AU. Overwhelmingly, it seems most people would choose GU over GWU, especially in International Affairs and the like.

But what about evening/weekend programs at GU? How would you compare a Bachelor of Liberal Studies: International Affairs in GU’s evening and weekend program- the School of Continuing Studies- to GWU’s Elliott School? Is GU still the favored school?

For transfers who are applying to Georgetown with professional experience under their belt, this is another option if you aren’t accepted as a normal transfer student. I’m just not sure - if I were accepted to both - which would be the better choice. If you read my previous posts you know I applied for Environmental Studies, not ESIA, but I’m planning on at least a minor if not a double major in International Affairs/Relations.

This might be something for alot of folks on this forum to think about…especially military types since the YRP would cover the entire SCS tuition, unlike the normal/daytime GU programs…
