Haas App Specifics

Hey, any Haas people out there that could help? I'm a sophomore and applying to Haas this semester.

1) Is there any place online we can look at old applications? I have no idea what it looks like and I can't find a copy anywhere (I know the essays change every year, but I'd like to see a basic format for the app).

2) When we fill in what we took to fulfill breadth requirements, can we put down all the classes/exams that satisfy that requirement, even if we have more than required? For example, applicants are required to take 2 international studies courses (well, 7 of 9 breadth classes, but I think you catch my drift). Are there only two spots on the app for international study courses, or can I put down 3 or 4?

3) I'm not sure what I should put down when I have AP exams, community college courses, and UCB courses. For example, I got a 4 on the AP Chemistry Exam and a "P" in Physics C10. Either of these satisfy the physical sciences requirement, but I'm not sure which to use. In another scenario, I got A's in Political Science 5 and 10 at De Anza College, and a B+ in Political Science 2 at UCB. Not sure which two to put down for the international studies requirement.

Hi there,
I'm basically in the same nightmare with a few added levels of difficulty being an international transfer. I can't help you with everything but I can definitely answer #2.

2) No. There are maximums for each breadth category. It basically means that only two of your classes can qualify for international studies; they can't overlap. Though check carefully, some courses qualify in both (History comes to mind.

I would love to hear from you if you find an answer to #1.

Keep in touch,
