Harvard 2015 Hopefuls

I’ve met the requirement for any college that I am considering applying to, it’s more of a personal goal.

^It’s kind of awesome that you would do the effort for a personal goal. I took the 2’s once and did okay, but I’m going to call it quits.

Harvard is definitely my top choice. If I get into Harvard, I’m going to Harvard!

I’ll throw my name in the hat. Look me trying to act nonchalant about it. The trouble with it being my dream school is that it might stay just a dream.

@thenewguy, chin up bud. We’re all in the same boat. No one is certain when it comes to Harvard, Princeton, or Yale. It’s just something that you work really hard for, and if you don’t get Harvard in the end, you can always find plenty of schools behind it that are raking piles of money for you to jump on.

^Thanks =) I really appreciate this.

I’m not worried about it.

@thenewguy,

No prob, bob.

Ok, so here’s the plan. We make sure that only the people who posted on this thread apply. Yay! We’re in. If only.

^ Yeah, in your dreams ^.^

What would be even more frightening is if the applicant pool exceeds this years.

^ I wouldn’t be surprised. The lowering of the Subject Test requirement should boost the application number a bit, and the trend of people applying to more schools will probably continue.

Right now, it looks like the applicant pool will increase. With Harvard’s great financial aid, the bad economy, and people realizing that if they don’t go to college it’ll be hard to survive, it looks like more people will be submitting applications. You can never be certain, though. I remember top-notch magazines saying that applicants would decrease a few years ago because of the Baby-boomer generation’s offspring growing up. They were obviously wrong. All kinds of factors play into the number of people applying, but I doubt that number will decline any time soon.

Quoting myself from almost 3 months ago on this thread:

Welp, for those who care, I’ve essentially decided on a school and it’s NOT H. Didn’t feel as comfortable with the coaches at H, facilities were pretty far off-campus (this sort of took away from the intimacy), and probably most significantly was that they didn’t even pose an offer, rather they wanted me to get in on my own (not because I wasn’t athletically strong enough but they figured that with my SAT score I could get in on my own and save them a slot). The great part though is that I found a school that pretty much satisfied everything I was looking for and more (and now I feel like I truly know what it’s like to pick a school not for its prestige but for its fit).

^ I agree with your quote about how our future depends on athletics… It’s nerve racking. For all I know I could go on my officials and everyone would say yeah sorry but x y and z are all faster than you. See ya! <– my nightmare. But at least we get to know where we’re going earlier along in the process. Where are you headed, if you don’t mind me asking? And what do you play?

^ I chose to forgo that option both because I didn’t want to play at a D1 level and because I want to say that I got in (if I do) without a hook. It’s mostly the first reason though lol.

^ Really? I welcome anyone labeling me as a jock - much better than being the math nerd!

Harvard’s always been my top choice. I can’t believe this is the year we apply! Good luck everybody!

Also anyone have any ideas with regard to safety schools? =) I’m kind of stuck there.

Carnegie Mellon, Syracuse, Boston U, Boston College, Grinell, Vassar, some LACS maybe… there’s alot.

My main safety is University of Pittsburgh.
