Harvard 2015 Hopefuls

i’m applying to Harvard, Yale, and Princeton…good luck everyone!

my interview is on the 28th…I am so nervous!

Would it be acceptable to wear a school uniform to an interview? I am going to the interview straight from school (and my interviewer knows this) but I could bring different clothes and change in my car or something

"All required documents have been received. Thank you. "

ALL … does that mean letters of recommendation? I am unsure if one of my teachers sent their letters so if all means in fact ALL, then that would be awesome. Any ideas?

How do you guys have interviews already?

^ I second cornetking222’s question. I submitted my application to Harvard on September 18th and I STILL haven’t been contacted for an interview. :/

Of course. Wearing a school uniform to the interview will not negatively impact your prospects of admission. I displayed rather ordinary attire (e.g., t-shirt, long trousers, tennis shoes, and so on) to my interviews, although I believe I still appeared somewhat presentable.

Yes, letters of reference are included. If you had two instructor recommendations, then it was received (since only two are required). If the delayed submission served as a third, then it may not have been.

The invitation should come soon enough. Some arrive promptly; others take a few months. (A few students will even have their interviews the day before decisions are released.)

Thanks, mifune :)

Got an email saying I should be contacted soon for an interview

If I’m taking SAT subjects on December 4th, should I apply by December 1 or should I wait?

Just pushed the SUBMIT button on my CommonApp and Harvard Supplement!! Still feeling the shivers!

SO, prospective HARVARD people… where are you in the application process?? This thread seems to have sizzled out after the 400th post or something. Let’s bump it up again!

Let’s chance ourselves. My STATS are-

SAT-2230 (M-780, CR- 730, W-720)
SAT II- Math2 800/800, Physics 800/800, Chem 760/800
Ranked 3 in class of 180
Editor In Chief of the School Magazine
Editor and moderator of school website
National Table Tennis Player
Head Girl
Valedictorian
Yada yada yada

All of this doesnt matter, does it? I just wrote heartfelt CommonApp and Supplement essays! Hope they work:)

Do I have a chance? Dont know, actually. :P.

Also Applying to UCLA, UCSD, UCB, UCD, YPS, MIT, Chicago, Columbia… endless list. :D

Chance me please?!?

Yeah, btw, i am an international applicant in need of financial aid. is that gonna hurt me real bad?

Hey!

I sent in my SAT II scores a month ago too… they still havent featured anywhere! What do i DO? Should I Contact the collegeboard now? Or wait more?

It’s fine to apply by the “priority deadline” if you are fully content with your application. I did not first submit SAT scores until January and not the selected entirety until February. On the standardized testing portion of the application, it is advisable to select the upcoming tests and the date of the sitting (December 2010). Needless to say, leave the corresponding score boxes clear. (Also, December scores certainly do not require utilization of the “rush report” feature. In fact, rushed scores are sent via the postal system, which induces various intermediate steps and may actually prolong the time of receipt.)

Does your account mention that the scores are pending? If so, one month is an unusually protracted amount of time.

Hey
No, it just reads ‘14 score recipients’. My scores havent reached anywhere. I paid and even got the receipt…what do you suggest I do now?

Are you observing that information from the “My Organizer” page? If so, that is not the correct location to view score sending confirmation.

Are you viewing the specifically titled “My Send Score History” portion of your account?* Do you see a list of recipients and the specified scores sent to each below the name of the university? The status of the sending should be situated between the name of the college and above the scores sent. What exactly does it state? By this time, it should say something along the lines of “We sent the following scores on _________.”

“My Organizer” → Click on “Requested recipients” (loads into “My SAT” page) → Click on “My Send Score History” towards the lower right-hand portion of the window

If you were able to accomplish the admittedly difficult feat of occupying two ranks at the same time, then that is commendable indeed.

^ Surely such a feat merits a Harvard acceptance.

(I think in some countries the “valedictorian” is instead the person giving the end of the year speech, usually someone selected by the student body and not necessarily the person with the highest rank.)

“Valedictorian” is increasingly becoming a range of various denotations through the growing assortment of unique school policies, which often partially or entirely erode its traditional definition. The stating of one’s valedictorian status despite not securing the highest academic ranking is not necessarily a case of contradiction or a potential indication of false reporting. As xrCalico23 indicated, in many schools, being the (or a) valedictorian is irrespective of one’s academic standing. Also, it could designate the attainment or surpassing of a particular GPA threshold. Under the latter system, precise rankings could be either informal or merely anecdotal.
