Waiting is a torture.
@studycollege
Purgatory of College Admissions.
@elaras nope my school breaks up on the 31st so i have school that day
@emenya probably go to the gym and then marathon parks and rec on netflix i’m just going to stick the 31st being the release date that way if it is earlier it will be a welcome surprise
@shiziani from the UK what about you? yea the EA round was a long wait but for uchicago i was at school until 1pm CDT so it wasn’t as long
Yeah @frodosdojo exactly what @MomTwo2 said. ALL ivies release the SAME day. Stanford not being part of the ivy league can choose to send out decisions whenever they please.
@poisonivy20 You missed my point but I won’t continue to discuss it with you. I will be looking forward to the actual release date. I only mentioned Stanford because there are some folks in here who are also in the Stanford thread. Have a great evening.
@frodosdojo You’re right in that Harvard released on the 27th last year, but that was because it was Ivy day. They seem to have pushed it back this year to the 31st. But if one Ivy send a decision (whatever day it is), then ALL Ivies will follow suit on the same day. Hope this helps.
I have a question : my teacher faxed a letter of rec (post-deferral about 2weeks ago) but it didn’t get in/processed. When I called they told me to upload a signed copy through the portal. will they still consider iT? I don’t want it going to waste. I was told that they were done with decisions for some students…so I feel kind of bad
Upload as suggested AND have your counselor call and speak with someone to verify it’s in your file
So am I the only person that was kinda like “hey, why the hell not?” and applied to Harvard on a whim? My stats are solid, but I have absolutely no expectation of getting in… I probably would’ve forgone applying, but I was able to reuse a different school’s essay :’)
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to attend Harvard, but frankly, I won’t be upset at all if I’m rejected. (Kinda my attitude to all the Ivies haha).
There are 35,000 applications sitting on the desk at Harvard. There might have been a few more that did that.
I just got back from a week-long program this weekend and like 20 of the kids I was with are going to Harvard via early admission. Gaww. Now I really really want to get in too. But I’m upset because I wasn’t offered an interview and at the time that I completed the app, it was more one of those “for the hell of it” things.
@pedestrian1123 There’s no telling at this point. But why not? Submit it as they advised, put your best effort in. No one knows whether they’ll get to it or not, but it’s worth trying ASAP!
@marshmallowpop Pretty much my attitude to all the Ivy Leagues.
I think they were all pushed back because of the weather related closings this year. Harvard had at least 3 days where the snow forced school closures.
@ibbi1824 Same here! Oh this is quite exciting haha I was literally the first person in my school ever to apply so it just felt like I was alone (even though, I know many more people from the UK applied). You’re quite lucky your school breaks up for the spring break on the 31st, mine doesn’t until the 2nd of April, when I also have a full subject mock. I am not looking forward to that week! haha
@shiziani yeah i swear i’ve met so many people applying to Harvard this year from the UK! I was one of 2 people to apply to the US in my year so it wasn’t that bad and we had one girl go to Harvard in past (but she was amazing at lacrosse so I suspect she was recruited or something). Oh that sucks good luck for the mock though! we have to go in a day early to do some maths mocks too
@ibbi1824 Wow, it seems like your school would have known what to do with the application and all sorts. It certainly is advantageous to know who’s going if you get in. Hopefully you both get along haha! Thank you for the well wishes, I wish you all the best for your maths mocks too (they’re always such a ball of fun! not.) especially if it means going in to school a day early Good luck for it though!
@shiziani yeah its really not a very big thing at my school to apply to the US because so few people do it so there wasn’t much help in terms of the app but they knew how to do the letters of recommendation/school reports etc. haha yeah the other girl didn’t apply to Harvard so no competition there haha thanks!
Well since we’re waiting, I guess we could discuss Harvard getting absolutely crushed right now by a quicker, more athletic North Carolina
Lol spoke too soon, closing in with a 11-0 run
@emenya lol march madness!! (another good distraction from college admissions ) we were talking about it in my theology class (our teachers have given up on trying to teach second-semester seniors haha)
