Harvard Transfer (wannabes) Unite

Eh, didn't apply anyway.

janel89,

do you know when harvard is going to send emails? i think you heard something about it, right? sorry if i am wrong, so many posts here..i might confuse you..i am just wondering if anyone heard something specific about notification date from admissions office

I don't know what the exact date is for this year.

I only that last year, the status check stopped working on the 15th, which I believe was also the same day that they sent out an email stating when the official decision would be coming via another email later that week.

I think that day was the 18th. Though we won't know how strictly this precedent will be followed until early this week when they, in all likelihood, will inform us.

hey fred: I think brian heard on may 1st that h. starts releasing decisions may 15 (see first post). and then later heard a few days ago that people start getting decisions beginning next week into the end of may..

bnx86, janel89,

i guess you guys are right..i just wanted to make sure..all i know is that my close friend got his acceptance letter a year ago on the 20th, friday....it was the third week of may last year...i guess that is what will happen this year as well..good luck guys..hope for the best..i know what you all feeling..

janel: last may did you receive the email and the letter on the same day?

No. I received the email first, and when I went home a few days later, the letter was there (I live in Massachusetts, though). Fred, if he got his acceptance letter through snail mail, the 20th sounds about right; however, for those who choose the email option, I'm pretty sure they all receive the decision on the same day. What bnx suggested about them coming out throughout the rest of the month sounds odd -- unless maybe if she's referring to regular mail?

haha. first of all, i'm a guy. and second of all, that's not what i was suggesting, it's just what i inferred from brian's earlier post:

"...Harvard called ME . . .to tell me that even though I have work study, summer classes, housing, financial aid, etc to worry about, they refuse to give a decision on anyone else's terms, and that they will start with decisions next week, running through the end of May."

(And I assume this is referring to rregular mail)

Haha, sorry, I thought you were a girl for some reason. And yeah, that makes sense I guess.

oh no, bnx is totally a guy- I cud tell from fifty miles away!

haha, no worries, janel....i find the gender roles and gender ambiguity on c.c. constantly amusing

and, bumpity, thanks for that confirmation of my masculinity...lol

guys, what wud be your impression if u were an adcom member and you saw the transcript of a freshman (wishing to transfer) who took three hundred level courses and a 100 level, got all As but enrolled in a 400 level course as an extra course and dropped it-

Wud u be totally disgusted at the freshman and perceive it to mean that he/she was merely trying to impress the adcom or wud u see it as admirable that he/she tried to challenge themselves?

mean that he/she was merely trying to impress the adcom

To be accepted anywhere, you must impress the adcom. Taking challenging courses is just a means to do so.

goodie...I can now sleep in peace---~

It's Monday! It's Monday!!! Today could be the day of our fate!! At the very least, as of Midnight, we have entered purgatory, where time and reason cease to exist. Is the credentials tracker down yet? Maaaannn I need this to be over. Let's keep bumping this thread - and for you lurkers, I want you to participate!! Huzzah!

Actually, hehe, sorry guys, I take back my original statement regarding the credentials check. I now think that it stopped working on the 16th. The 15th, as they denote, is the last day that you can access it. (Not like anyone really cares about the status check anyway).

Brian, have you called the office lately to ask when decisions are coming?

Why is it that I have a research paper due today, a final today, and a final on tuesday??? Damn you havard, why don't you let me know earlier so I can rest in peace? grrrh

Yeah I know exactly how you feel, hitmanultra. I had a crucial final the very day that I found out from Harvard last year; and yeah, I bombed it. And of course, that was my last final. That entire week was full of other papers and finals that did not go as well as they normally would have. :(

I'd almost rather get the decision in June. That way, I wouldn't have to try to juggle the anticipation along with finals.

There's no place like purgatory...

Oh man...I was wondering whether I was the only one on here who still had finals...glad to know i'm not alone...

janel: do you remember what day/time you got the email last year from harvard saying that they would be emailing decisions later in the week?

I also have a final on tuesday..cumulative...it's killing me...cant focus on anything...better go to sleep now...
