I applied to SDSU, CSUSM and SFSU with a 3.8 as a history major and I haven’t heard back from any of them! Of course, they’re all back up schools, as I tagged to UCSD. But still… what’s the delay, I wonder?

^thats weird, they should all be jumping your bones with that gpa. i didnt apply to any of those schools though so i cant help ;/

Friend was already accepted to CSUSM with a 4.0 psych major in early February…

“Looks like someone needs to whip out a dictionary for what an Ivy is. Public schools don’t become Ivies…not even make-believe Ivies, so notsureifsrs.”

jvesco- Below is probably what that post is referring to:

EW no…

Just curious: what makes you say “ew” about CSUs? They may not be UCs, but they’re wonderful schools nonetheless, or at least I believe them to be.

^^ Bad system and little prestige mainly. No offense to anyone, I just wouldn’t be happy at a CSU.

I heard SJSU has real bad administration. I dunno but I know a couple of people that go there and they seem to be happy.

I applied to a CSU because of the possibility that I couldn’t afford a UC…but hopefully with my grades (3.8+) and extra curricular activities, I’ll be able to get some scholarships/decent loans/maybe a grant that will allow me to go to UCI! :3

i dont see why CSUs have such a bad rep. i know so many people that got their bachelors from csun and are now getting or already got their masters from usc.

I’m sorry to say that Cal Poly SLO is no back up school. I want to smack myself in the face the hardest that I can right now. For transfers it is extremely hard to get into, with only 13% admit rate and with a major like Engineering it’ll be even harder.

Yep - to SDSU. I got in.

I applied to SF State, Sacramento, Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Long Beach as backups. I’ve gotten into all of them. I’m waiting to hear from UCI (where I’ll probably end up) and Berkeley (where I’d love to end up, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up too much). And honestly, I’m totally relieved to know that there are four schools willing to take me that I can probably realistically afford. I don’t think there’s any sense getting snobby about CSU schools. Most of them have great programs and faculty.

Melanie, which cal state would you choose if you had to?

Hard to say. Probably either Fullerton or San Francisco State. It would be purely a geographical decision because I’m not sure if I want to stay in San Francisco next year or move back home to Orange County. In the end it will probably depend on whether I get into Irvine or Berkeley.

when did everyone that got into sdsu get accepted? i have a 3.8+ and i still have yet to hear. i have completed the csu igetc and all prereqs. is it based on the names alphabetically or by majors?

Don’t worry. I’m sure you’re in, with that GPA. Some schools take longer than others. I didn’t apply to SDSU, but is there a portal where you can check the status of your transcripts? If you’ve waited this long to hear, there might have been an error processing them.

P.S. I JUST heard from most of my CSUs.

we were supposed to send in transcripts or are you talking about the grades we reported?

@melanie what major did you apply to for the csu? did csulb already receive your transcripts?
