Just curious.
The vast no. of admitted students never get a LL.
I meant that because M&T is the flagship program with a small class do they send all accepted students a LL. I checked the last 2 years threads and all M&T admitees had received a LL. @T26E4
@Bored1997: Though I have a small sample size of 3, but all of them got in with likelies, and no one I know was admitted to M&T without a likely.
Curious about this too. Thing is, I don’t think they’d fill up the entirety of their M&T class with likelies. They probably send out like 200 likely letters? And I’d assume most of them are for CAS. Idk though. Hopefully this is not the case because I applied M&T too.
@johannbach Since M&T accepts only around 80 kids it is possible. First during the ED round they accept around 30-40. Then they can send out the remaining 40-50 as likelies. M&T is one of their most premier dual degree programs so they will use the bulk of their likelies on it. I’m in the same boat as you guys, so sorry we have been rejected by M&T. Our secondary school needs time to review our application so dual degree programs probably finish decisions sooner, hence the early March likely letters.
This is of course my opinion. If anyone brings up opposing evidence this analysis is entirely irrelevant.
Where did you read they accept 30-40 during ED?
@sdhotmama
I looked at the M&T admitted students facebook group, which had ~25 members in January (Assuming some don’t have facebook I added to the estimate). It is an estimate; I don’t have the actual number. However, I think it is a fair estimate.
Thanks! I guess we will find out soon. Good luck everyone!
@nandroida Where did you find that M&T accepts around 80? On their website it states between 50-55…

@md21403 M&T accepts students in the RD round, who may not matriculate at Penn. I’m not sure if the number is as high as 80, but there is not 100% retention.
@"Keasbey Nights" and @md21403
Sorry, I messed up on the overall acceptance number. But then the math works out even better with a lower number of overall acceptances. If you didn’t get a likely letter from M&T you are rejected.
As a student currently in M&T, I can vouch that is also not true.
So we don’t have to get a likely letter? Only one kid from my school has gotten into the M&T program, and the kid took every ap class offered (and more onljne) and was a member of pretty much every club and the president (or founder) of more. I can’t match his stats, but a small part of me hopes for M&T. I’m almost sure I got rejected from M&T, my real goal is Penn Engineering, but I’m curious.
@“Keasbey Nights”
All my posts were just analysis based on what I know. If you are a current M&T student then I guess what I said wasn’t true. Thanks for clearing that up; it makes me a little more excited for decision day.
