It came in the mail today! A huge envelop with a blue folder inside :)

My son is still waiting for New Paltz, he applied at the beginning of December. It’s stressing us all out because it’s his #1 choice and once he hears one way or another from them he’ll be able to make his decision. I think it might be a bad sign that he applied so long ago and still hasn’t heard :(

His SAT is really good (I read your previous posts) so I don’t see why he wouldn’t get in. It should balance with his GPA. Did he check his application status online recently?

Smithmkt - I’m still waiting too but I know why it’s taking so long for me so I’m not too worried yet. I think You should find out early march at the lastest.

His online status still says the same thing, “Your application is complete and a decision will be made shortly. Thank you for your patience.” It has said that for over a month now. Everyone in our house really just wants this process to be over already :)

Where else did he get in?

I know how you feel. I sent my application in the beginning of December for another school and I’m STILL waiting. I’ve gotten no sign of a reply whatsoever. It’s kind of stressful but all we have to do is be patient. :)

Mine just says “Your application has been received.”

So far he’s been accepted to Plattsburgh, Hofstra, University of Rhode Island, and Monmouth University. Of course I’d be happier with the SUNY schools since we are NY residents and the cost is much cheaper. New Paltz is definitely his top choice.

Lemons - when did you send in your application?

@smithmkt is there anything specific why he likes the school? I’m trying to find things I like about NP because I might be going there.

It says I sent in my app on January 10th but I sent mid semester grades on January 31st.

Well, my son was wait listed at New Paltz. He’s kind of bummed , but he feels like its better than a rejection. Does anyone have any idea of how many wait listed applicants wind up getting in?

I’m honestly not sure but I don’t know why he would be wait listed in the first place. Does he have any extra curricular activities? Or does he have a high GPA or SAT score if you don’t mind me asking?

@Smithmkt
Damn I’m sorry
Urgh that doesn’t leave me much hope either as my stats are just a bit higher than your sons (1230 sat,85 avg)

Did he have an upward trend or anything or was his avg always 84ish? Maybe that’s why.! Well at least he still has some hope. You should email them and ask how many applicants get in after being wait listed and share your info with me
Good luck I hope he’s happy where ever he ends up

@SharonSUNY
I wouldn’t lose too much hope. I’m really starting to wonder what they look at though. If they don’t accept you, its their loss.
These colleges are too picky sometimes! >.< They should accept you eventually, I really don’t see why they wouldn’t.

Ughhhhh this probably means I’m Deff getting rejected or wait listed because they already accepted enough students :’(

@jasa urrrgh I sure hope soo I’m just really bummed now cause I’m probably going to get wait listed now.

Really? Wow! How did you find out?

Smith -

My D was rejected at New Paltz and went to Plattsburgh instead. As it turns out, Plattsburgh is the perfect school for her (she’s a junior now). We were at New Paltz recently for a function with her and she looked around and said how happy she was she is at Plattsburgh. NP did not wind up even having the courses she wanted.

What is your son interested in studying?

@jasa Well it doesn’t really mean that but I’m assuming so because being wait listed supposedly means you met the admissions requirement but there wasn’t enough space for you.

Sharon -

You got into Geneseo with a 1230? My D was rejected with a 1260/1940 and 88 GPA. It was her reach. It is rural but if it has what you want, you should consider it because it is a top school. Rochester is about 20 - 30 minutes away.
