Have any Fall 2014 transfers gotten a decision yet?

I still haven’t heard anything, I would still like to consider Binghamton, what’s taking so long!

Same here Tgenovajr

@ddotjon @Erika9890‌ Thank you for taking the time and giving me advice. I will do so.

@Serbestofall‌ Thank you a lot for your information. Do you think ill be able to take accounting classes while at Harpur? Because I checked their majors and they do not having accounting. Also, I already took Macro and Micro and received an A I’m taking Calc currently and have not taken Stats yet. I’m waiting to receive which credits transfer, hopefully Macro and Micro transferred.

@AcctWhiz‌ No, you cannot take any accounting classes unless you are in SOM. Great, make sure you get an A in Calc and i think you will be good to transfer into SOM in Spring 2015 if you get as close to a 4.0 as possible in FALL 2014. I read up a little bit and found out you will be a junior in Fall 2014. If you transfer into SOM in the spring you would have to stay another year because it takes 2 years to finish the curriculum and even then you may have to overload some semesters.

Hey guys.
I still haven’t heard anything from Binghamton. My friend who was already accepted last month said their deposit dead line is May 1. OMG…I’m so nervous. I just visited Stony Brook two days ago and I was so disappointed.
So I really want to be accepted by Binghamton.

BTW, do you guys know anything about Binghamton’s Mathematics and Physics major?

Still nothing from Binghamton! Also recently applied to UMASS…wow. Would like to know from Bing? What’s the deal Bing?

Same, I didn’t think it’d take this long this is ridiculous. @ddotjon this is going to sound like a strange question but I over heard a woman who bowls in a league at Herrill Lanes where I work saying their son had just applied to Umass, you don’t happen to bowl there in a once a month league?

No. We don’t. He applied there cause he is engineering, hasn’t heard back from Bing, and he really needs to be somewhere in Fall.

Where does he currently attend?

Was able to log in to: <a href=“Binghamton University/QuikPAY® Login”>https://secure.binghamton.edu/newadmit/loginform.jsp</a> today, I’m guessing this means I was accepted?

I’m guessing that means you are accepted too so congratulations! Still nothing here for my son, I am thinking he is not getting in, but we will see. He was at Hofstra for three semesters, and is now at NCC. He left Hofstra this semester when he lost his merit scholarship. Needed a 3.0 GPA, cumulative, and had a 2.9GPA. He appealed, and lost, and kinda decided that he didn’t want to stay at Hofstra, either way. So he left Hofstra, cause he didn’t want to take any more classes there that may not transfer, and is now at NCC taking two classes, cause he is finished with the lower level engineering classes. He applied to StonyBrook, and was denied. So, we are waiting to hear from Bing, and also applied to UMASS, cause he has to go somewhere in Fall.

Now, I know you also got into StonyBrook, so have you made a decision yet? Either way, you can’t go wrong!

I am thinking SUNY Farmingdale as a back up, I think you went there, right? I know its engineering technology, I don’t really know the difference?

I wouldn’t give up hope on Binghamton cause I applied early (earlyFebruary) and was just accepted so they must be going through the engineering applications now. I think UMass is an excellent backup in case he doesn’t get into Binghamton. I can’t believe they took away his scholarship for just a .1 differential in GPA, that’s ridiculous. I’m leaning heavily towards Stony Brook cause they both offered the exact same amount of financial aid. I already know which credits will transfer to Stony Brook, but I’m waiting to see if Bing will evaluate my credits in case they accept more of my credits. But given location and everything else, Stony Brook makes more sense for me at the moment.

As for Farmingdale, I personally hate it here. 95% of the students don’t want to be here and have the “I’m only going to college to get a job” mentality. The professors in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program are terrible. The department is all over the place, many of things they do is very questionable, for example they only offer Thermodynamics as an online course (which is ridiculous). It is a commuters school so there is no real feel of going to college. The campus isn’t that nice, the only thing they put money into is the sports complex.

As for engineering technology, it is like a watered down engineering. The entire program is algebra based. The only benefit is that it is a very hands on program. As for job placement, engineering technologists usually work in machine shops and power plants, and have a hard time moving their way up due to the education (or lack of) they received. I would look into SUNY Maritime as I know they have an abet accredited engineering program. I was considering applying there if I didn’t get into Stony or Bing.

That’s great for you! Stony Brook is a great engineering school, you will do well there I am sure! I am still hoping for Bing, cause OOS UMASS is expensive, but if we have to do it, we will somehow? I think you are mechanical engineering, right? He wants Industrial, or Systems engineering as it is called at Bing. If he gets denied at Bing, I guess he will try to see where else he would go if UMASS doesn’t work out, and will try to apply somewhere else ASAP. Hopefully, he will hear this week from Bing?

You will have to decide soon though, cause you need to pay a deposit, and then pay a housing deposit right? The sooner you do that, I think, the better your housing pick will be?

Thank you very much! Yes I’m doing mechanical engineering. Hopefully UMass can give good scholarship/financial aid. But I’ll tell you what my cousin told me (who’s now a doctor): You can’t look at the money now, you have to do what you have to do to get the education you need. Engineers won’t have trouble finding jobs and with the right education, student loans aren’t as scary as they seem.

I definitely think this week cause they must be going through the engineering applications now!

Thanks for the info, I am going to look into that SUNY Maritime, ASAP.
