Have any Fall 2014 transfers gotten a decision yet?

Yea I’m going to call Binghamton today and see if they can evaluate my credits with out me committing. If they can’t I’m going to pay all my deposits and such for Stony.

Any time! If you need anything else feel free to pm me your (or your son’s) email and I’d be more than happy to help!

Hey, I just got accepted as a transfer for the fall semester, does anyone know if there’s an accepted students facebook page?

@Tgenovajr. Congratulations on getting into Bing! Did you actually get into the Engineering program?
Don’t give up hope yet ddotjon! I know people locally that are still getting accepted. Transfers find out very randomly.

My son is a little disheartened about Bing. He got into Harper, but it seems almost impossible to get into
SOM. @ Serbestofall my son is not the best at math. But, wants to major in the Entrepreneur program.
So, your saying if he doesn’t get A’s in Calc/stats/micro/macro he wont get in? He only took Micro/Macro
Syracuse in HS.
It was suggested he takes Calc at Broome this summer. Not much else for him if he can’t get into SOM.
You have any recommendations?

@johnmccann17 My son was just accepted too. I know someone had started one on here. But, we can’t find it.
I think a person name clarimodest said they had started one, but we couldn’t find it. If you do find it, please post back here. Thanks!

Those wanting access to the fb group, send me a private message! Thank you :)

@Erika9890‌ Thank you! I’m not sure yet cause I was only able to login to the deposit page and it said major: Mechanical Engineering. I’m not sure if that means I did or not. What is SOM?

@tgenov if you can log into that account and you are able to pay a deposit, you ARE accepted.
That’s how we knew my son was accepted. Then he got the acceptance letter in the mail a few days later.
School of Management.

Just to update everyone…still no decision for my son. I have emailed admissions 3 times and the reply is always the same…we are doing the best we can to get all the decisions out…please have patience.

Not feeling very confident at this point in am expecting a rejection, but it would be nice to know.

I know I’m not a part of this thread but I just want to say I’m sorry ddotjon, I’ve been checking in here every few days and I can’t believe you still don’t have a decision! I’d definitely be annoyed at this point no matter what the answer, but I really really hope it’s a yes.

Me too rebeccar and thanks!

ddotjon, I would recommend you contact Manhattan College. Even though your son was not interested in the college they have a top engineering program and I know of several students who received offers of over $100,000 this year without MS degrees in engineering.

I have not yet heard back either. I finished my application at the end of January. I emailed admissions around the beginning of April and they said to watch my email and mail because they should be reviewing my application very soon and still nothing!

I just finished the spring semester at my current college so people have told me that they may be waiting for this semester’s grades. Still seems kind of weird though and it’s been a fairly long time.

Still no transfer decision…I am doubtful, but does anyone think an acceptance is still possible at this late date? I don’t think so.

Just got my letter today and I got accepted to SOM

@Hwen1994‌ Congratulations!
Would you mind if I asked what your GPA is? What math do you have completed, and did you get all A’s?
My son was accepted into Bing. Notc realizing the SOM was a whole different school. Thanks!

@Erika9890‌ Thank you very much
My current gpa is 3.843.
I only took calculus I and got an A on it.

@‌ hwen1994
Thank you for the info.
I will pass it on to my son.
Good luck with Bing! :)

So…good news accepted to Binghamton bad news…,accepted to Harpur not Watson. Son will be junior level transfer. Wonder if intra university transfer from Harpur to Watson engineering is possible? I know it is almost impossible from Harpur to SOM. Is it the same with Watson? Maybe Rebeccar would know?

@ddotjon i have the exactly same situation as your son. I’m also a junior transfer. I would like to know if anyone can answer that question.

Congratulations ddotjon!! Finally an answer!

My son is in the same situation, except that he wants to get into the SOM.
I’m not sure where you heard it was impossible to transfer into SOM from Harper?
I talked to the adviser from SOM, and she said they don’t have an advantage
or a disadvantage to get in. If his grades are good enough, the chance of him getting in, is
equal to transferring in.
I personally feel if my son gets the grades, and sits down and talks to
the people in the SOM department 1 on 1, he has an edge. They can put
a face to the application, and get a feel of how determined he is.
He isn’t just a piece of paper passing on their desk with all A+A+A+A+
But, perhaps I’m dreaming.
Plattsburg has an Awesome Entrepreneurial program he was accepted into.
Exactly what he wants…but, it’s Plattsburg, and his dream school is
Binghamton. It’s a risk. He has decided to to go to Binghamton for
a year. If he doesn’t get into SOM, he will go to Plattsburg. Much easier
to get into. But, he is a Sophomore and has a little more time to decide.

I would call Watson, and talk to the decision makers there.
See what your son would realistically need to get in.
Did your son get into UMass? Does he have other options?
Such hard choices!
